My 97 mustang Cobra Build

This is my first build thread. And I am broke all the time so it will be a slow build

Here is what I started with
i traded this 99 Yamaha R1



For this 97 Cobra it came with most all parts to put back together but only a gt block that needed fixed, Also came with a tubular k-member full turbo kit with manifolds minus the turbo, nitrous kit, long tubes, aluminum driveline. all the parts filled the back of my long bed truck. The bike was worth about $2000 so i think i came out pretty good







I picked up another short block from a GT to get the car running but after a while i decided i didnt want to run a GT block so i sold my YFZ450



and picked up this for $2200 runs and drives







and thats where im at right now, hopefully i will get the motor installed this thanksgiving weekend

got some wiring hooked up and almost nothing worked so i looked at the fuse box under the dash to find that the previous owner pulled every fuse out, got them installed and everything seemed to be working. just have the exhaust, radiator and a few things left before the first start up in this car

oh i ate lots of food. got it ready to start today and it ran for a sec then died, found out the theft system is shutting the car down. not sure what the previous owner did.

Good looking project. I ended up hotwiring the fuel pump when I swapped to a v8. I put in a built 2v, and it has come back to haunt me. I am not sure what it is now but I am carbing it now haha. Good luck with the project!

i tried switching the theft box in the trunk and the ignition switch and key from the white car, still didn't work. i seen i might need to take the computer from the white car also for the pats to work. is this true? will i need anything else or just the box in the trunk the computer and ignition switch and key?

yep the pats is the only thing stopping me. i wish i knew what the previous owner did for it to not work. but the white car started and ran so i think as long as i transfer all the parts needed for the pats it should work

got it figured out, on 96-97 you can program your own master key but it takes 45 min to do. so the car is running but has an exhaust leak, and need to finish up the interior, front brakes and wheels and tires

guess i should update this.

the previous owner had cut the a/c lines and vacuum line going into the heater box, so i pulled the dash out and swapped the heater boxes


got it all put back together, need to switch the heater controls to some that ain't spray painted red.



got the brakes bleed cooling system filled just need to change the oil get a new windshield and wash and wax it.

yea it needs a new paint job, but figured id try to make it look the best it can till i can get it painted

got the mach 460 system working, found out the previous owner put the speakers in but didn't plug them in for some reason.
Also got a shorty antenna, firewall adjuster and quadrant installed today.
