I am a proud owner of a 1998 Cobra Convertible. I have only owned the car for about 4 months and I am only the second owner. It only has 41,000 miles on it, yes I said 41,000. :) I'm 20 and this is the first car I've ever bought myself and I can't tell you how proud I am of it. It is completely stock, not a single thing done to it, but I plan to add a few things before Mustangfest in October.

Here are some pics:

I need some opinions on a couple things though. I want new rims and tires, but I'm not positive which ones. I'm stuck between Bullitts, Saleens, or FR500's. I also want to put a new shifter in it - I have heard the MGW is the best, but I really want a shorter shifter, not shorter throws, but SHORTER in height. Any recommendations on that?

Thanks for looking and I look forward to hearing your opinions.

congrats on the find. lowered on some 18" chrome fr500s would look perfect in my opinion. I like my pro 5.0 shifter, it is a bit notchy, but it is very short and accurate. I've never found a short throw I didn't like though. only very minor differences between them and you won't know which you like more til you drive a couple.

be careful with the power and awesome rwd driving characteristics this car has to offer!

Beautiful car and nice pickup, but FYI those are the '96-'97 wheels so if it is a '98, those are the incorrect wheels.

I agree leave it stock, it will get more attention as the years go by.

Leave it stock? Nobody gonna care if it's stock in a few years lol. 96-98 Cobras are not Terminators and thus not higihly saught after. Not bashing it; I own one and I love it. You gotta enjoy the car; the mod bug fears no one!

18 chrome saleens by a long shot. Being a vert, the saleens fit it best.

oh yeah and with an NA B head car; DON'T FEAR THE GEAR

^^^I disagree. My bottom rung 1990 Camaro RS gets a LOT of attention--bone stock and unmolested, because they never are.

"Oh look, a Cobra with flowmasters and FR500s! Haven't seen one of those on every corner before!"

wheels are personal preference but please no bullits. lower it though for sure. looking real nice

if you don't want a short throw, just get a steeda tri-ax handle for the stock shifter.

Could you post some pics here of your shifter in your car? I have been debating on the MGW or 5.0.

I believe that the MGW will still sit very low, as they make different handles. Steeda I have sitting at its lowest and its ok. You arent going to get super low in height. Going with MGW will still not disappiont.

Good catch on the 96-97 cobra rims if his is a 98. Didnt even think about that. Might wanna check on that bud!

I say silver or chrome saleens. lowered on H&R SS springs

Yeah it's definitely a 98. I didn't know that about the rims though. Maybe the previous owner liked these more, I don't really know.

I'm definitely gonna drop this bad boy though. Idk how much I can take of the 4x4 look. -_- How far would you guys recommend lowering it? I want to drop it as much a possible.
