Great find. Virgin mustangs ftw! I would start with springs, preferably H&R Super Sports with a nice shock/strut combo to aid in the spring rate. Some adjustable 4 way Maximum Motorsport C/C plates along nice mgw shifter like you said.

Thanks for the input guys. I was going to go with the SS springs. Do you think it would be ok to go with the springs first and add the shocks/struts and CC plates later or is that a bad idea?

Get it all at once^ so that you dont have to take everything apart and realign/kill tires as you wait to upgrade parts.

Very nice car btw, reminds me of my 96 when I first bought it, except mine wasn't as clean.

Good luck and welcome.

for the price of his first set of 18s.. Saleens cannot be beat.. And really. How many clean SN95s do you see IN PERSON that have saleens.. or the s281 wing?

none. so let him get his saleens. in silver or chrome

Or buy a set of staggered 18'' 04 cobras!!! theres an idea.. buy a set of chrome ones and your car will look sick!

So wheels and tires for a set of chrome 18" saleens? How much are we talking? And no..not well just look in the corral classifieds and blah blah blah....realistically, how much will he pay?

And how many Mustangs with chrome Saleens do I see in Ohio? Plenty. Which is a lot more than none.

overall the amount of cars that someone will see with parts that "everyone" has on their car is naught. Yes you will see a lot of it online. But in person, really not "everyone" like we see online. Same thing goes with the saleen S281 wing.

Best priced saleens are on AmericanMuscle. Or a used set w/wo tires. For a new set and a good set of rubber, your looking at-least 1k. Unless you know someone who can get ya good deals on tires or install it themselves. The only tires AM offers with it that are good are the nittos, never the crap summimoto or whatever. Even then they are generally too narrow.

The saleens are so popular because they are in fact one of the best looking wheels on the market for our cars. The 5 spoke concaveness of them is super appealing and works well with the body of our cars. Yet alone the price you can get them for nowadays. Are there other options that I think would look stupid good? Fawk yea. But for someones first set of 18s? You cannot go wrong with saleens. With bullets and FR500s, yes you can. And I guess that is more the point im trying to make.

I know the point you are making, I just sit on the other side. I would say, keep your $1000 in your pocket and keep the wheels on the car. Save your pennies until you get in the $1500-$2000 range and then get something unique and awesome. But that's just me. Different strokes for different folks. But I certainly value your side as well! As you said, $1000 for a nice set is indeed cheap for some nice wheels and tires.

im with kid on this...outta the choices op mentioned saleens are the nicest but there is alot of nicer wheels available to fit that can be staggered and look fn sick!! tons of american racing, polished billet, type wheels. oem style wheels are a dime a dozen...

there are other choices but $1500 for New chrome saleens and tires isn't bad. The saleens would fit his red vert amazing.

He said he's 20 years old,.I don't know many 20 year olds who can save up 2500-3000 that quick. Wheels change the look of the car dramatically, but I still can't see myself spending that much dough on wheels; especially being only,21 in college and working part time.

Kid9 I love your wheels! they are so sexy!

To add to the "everyone has saleens" thing, I have only seen ONE car with saleens and it was a sexy black terminator. I have not seen any others and I got to mustang meets lol. mostly everyone here has gay bullitts and a few have 17" FR500s that look funny.

I had bullitts on for 3 years. thank God I jumped on a set of authentic Ford Racing FR500s.!!!!!!! these wheels are so sexy! much better finish than the after markets. they fit my car flawlessly and I would not have it any other way! Sure i'm not getting headers anytime soon anymore but these wheels are worth the wait on headers.

Another question on the Saleens, is it safe getting a set off of eBay? They have a staggered set with some crappy Nexen tires for around $1,150. They are replicas, but I'm fine with that.
