my 98 gt vs a dsm eclipse gsx

ok wel at my work i found out that this cocky douschbag drives a gsx eclipse and im wondering who would win in a race from a dig....say if one day i would race him...he told me he has an intercooler and i think he might be running more boost than stock....let me know and be honest

Find out his mods if he has a GSX he will eat you out of the whole. Depending if has has a Turbo upgrade he will pull you. They do move Quick with mods. Now they don't last unless you have a 6 bolt so if he is turning a stock motor you could happen upon him blowing up

Being that he is a cocky dousche bag, can he launch??? :dontknow: Most cocky kids in awd cars can't drive for s***. I ran a gst from a roll a while ago and beat him 2/3 runs. The one I lost on took him till 90 to pass me. He had all the basic stuff and it was lowered. He wouldn't tell me how much boost he was running though. Is all I have is exhaust and sts.

Don't those cars get into the 13's pretty easily?

Your car is basically stock and doesn't even have gears so your car is a 15 second 1/4 car as it sits.... i'd probably not race him if you don't want to be messed with at work.

Do the gears and a PI swap and things will be different.

Assuming the kid isn't horrible at driving I'd say the GSX has you, he probably upped the boost.

i would imagine the eclipse has you 4/5 times. depending on driving skill and mods. but still, a decent driver will outrun a stock non-pi GT.

I used to have a gst, which was stock for a little while. Even the gst, in stock form with the boost upped a little, would have probably given a stock 98 gt a good run. I added an evo 16g turbo and some other upgrades and got tired of the front wheel drive and having a 4cyl so I got my stang.

One of my good friends used to have a Talon TSI AWD...basically an Eclipse GSX...his car smoked mine with a boost controller, solid UIC piping and a catback. So yes as much as it sucks...he will beat you. Mod your car some more...then race him haha

my buddy had a Talon TSI too and he was stock. even his car being stock, he could hang pretty well with my cobra when i had about 260ish HP.

Umm my non-pi auto with a k&n FIPK stayed with my roomates GSX no problem.

Depends on the driver, and if he's being "secretive" about his mods, chances are he's pushing more boost than stock,
which, even with a bad driver, will still lay the smack down. Just race him and see what happens, guessing doesn't get
you bragging rights..... :icon_rr:

So your saying that is all you had was a FIPK ??

Your saying a 2.73 or a 3.08 auto will hold up to a AWD out from a dig. Yeah you may have caught up and help with because both cars have relatively the same times all in aspects. I still stand by my statement he will get you from a dig. Only reason i say this is because when growing up i had 2 friends both with Eclipse GSX and they would always eat my 94 GT with a stock 3.08 out of the whole.

Edit : I would always catch up hold relatively even with them. Then they started upping the boost changing to a 16g turbo upgraded intercooler then it wasn't even a match.

not to be a dick, but im going to either fly a BS flag, or im going to go ahead and say your roommate is a pretty bad driver. off the line, he should have car lengths on you, which even at top speeds i doubt you would catch him and pass him. i know probably 10 people with first gen DSM's and the lil terds are quick vs. a stock mustang.
