Well i believe i need a new clutch =[. Lately whenever i push in the clutch i would get this freaky AIR sound. Well, today i guess i killed it because i downshifted into 1st while rolling so i could hear the nice exhaust pop and roar and i felt the clutch padel get real stiff and notchy. So, i pulled over and smoke started coming out from where the tranny is.

So, damn i drove it home by rolling through stop signs and yellow lights in 1st and 2nd. It makes the most odd godful skreeching noise whenever the clutch is pushed in :'(

Damn it man. Atleast it made it home, but shit i dont have any ******* money to get this ***** repaired.

 :slap: :blah2: :nonono: :( :-X :p :-\ :'( :'( :'( :'(

time to get depressed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No idea what im going to do. :comando: :comando: :comando: :comando: im not car smart at all so i cant repair it. My o/r H pipe is on so when its gets repaired my dad is going to see it doesnt have CATS :-\ :slap: Whenever it gets fixed im not going to downshift into 1st again while slowing down!

Any estimates of a price im going to pay to get this ***** fully repaired??????????? Hopefully i didnt break my tranny... i think its clutch since its the stock one.

Thanks

Sucks about the clutch and puter.

Clutch jobs are not that bad to do. They are pretty straight forward, it is just alot of work. If you have a place to do it yourself, it would be alot cheaper.

Its in my garage right now, but i dont even change my oil =/ I could, but my dad does and the only thing i do on my car is the exhaust work. Trust me, i wouldnt touch the clutch at all with my current car experience.

if you dont want your dad to notice your h pipe, and you say you know how to do slight exhaust work, then why not take off your h pipe, and save up and what not for the clutch job, and tell your dad that you were attempting to save a little labor time for the shop to do it, therefore.... cheaper.

I replaced my whole tranny, clutch and all today in my driveway in about 6 hours (2 of those was waiting for my drill to charge so i could drill out the pilot bearing that broke off inside the housing) I spent $266 at Ford for a new clutch, 4Qts of tranny fluid, a new pilot bearing and a Ford Racing catalog.

bud... go to napa, buy a clucth...

Its an easy fix... here a walk through...

1. get the car a foot or so off the ground.
2. disconnect driveshaft from rear using a 12 point socket
3. disconnect the shifter assembly
4. disconnect the O2 sensors, the smog pump line thing, and pull off the mid pipe
5. remove speedo cable
6. disconnect 4 bolts connecting the tranny to the bellhousing
7. disconnect 2 bolts holding tranny to the cross member
8. place jack under rear of tranny, disconnect the 2 bolts on each side of the cross member that hold it to the car
9. take out cross member
10. fun part, tranny isn't very heavy... have friend pull out jack, while you hold tranny, pull the tranny back (to remove input shaft). Now its off. good job!

11. remove clutch cable cover with 10mm socket, then disconnect cable
12. remove bellhousing, several bolts, you will need a few universal joints.
13. remove pressure plate from fly wheel, and the clutch should come too...

Now check the flywheel, make sure it aint fist fucked... and put it all back together using the tool that came with the new clutch...

This will take you anywhere from 5 to 7 hours so long as everything goes ok, you have all the tools, and parts you need...

People that have done this before and have cool air tools, can get it done in as little as 2 to 3 hours...

Its very easy... you can do it...

Learning, is doing...

it's probably just your throwout bearing that is making the noise, but i would replacce the clutch anyway while you're down there.

I hope. i mean the clutch still works, but not good as it use to. When the car is off and i push the clutch in you can hear a nice loud noise thats not normal. :-X I have to really slip it to get up the hump into my garage so i cant gain speed very fast anymore. No video camera so i cant get the noises im talking about.

My neighbor is a mechanic, but tranny stuff seems like something a tranny shop is going to fuck with and not him. Ill check though.

Don't take this offensive, but get under that car and get it done yourself. I wanted a mustang so bad I sold an amazing truck for a peice of crap sn95 which was bearly running. Guess what, it broke down time and time again and I didn't know what to do. When i looked to my dad to fix it or give me the money to get it done, he pointed towards the door and said *go make money, and fix it yourself*

I'll be forever thankfull that I had to learn how to do it, it was horrible... but I learned alot. I can almost fix anything in my car now bolt on wise, and now im trying to learn about the internals. If you live with your family, which is cool to me because you can use there rides. Get a week clean where you have nothing to do and get it done, get a chiltons manual.

After all said and done, you will be happy you did it. Trust me, your dad will be proud of you to probably.

Hence why I NEVER downshift to 1st while moving. There is absolutely no point and its only more wear on the synchros/clutch in the long run.

Sorry about you shitty luck though, youre probably looking at 5 or 600 if you get someone else to do it. Especially if you dont provide parts.

Yep, i read im looking @ 500 or 600.. not bad (not good either). Anyone wanna buy a prochamber in illinois? :D But yep, im done with downshifting into 1st gear while rolling. It just sounds so damn good and the exhaust roar you get... you cant get with any other gear downshift. Oh well, i always wondered what damage i was doing when i would downshift into 1st and hear the tires grip the ground :behind:

You pay to play. Im done playing with my clutch though :hammer: I swear my exhaust gets me in so much trouble its ridiculous.

clutch instal is just easier to have someone do because when they do the clutch they can change the clutch cable and Rear Main Seal at the same time

Why in the world would they change the cable? Or the real seal? Theres no reason to do that unless it needs to be done ???
