I was driving 48 miles to buy me some groceries. The 1 day I chose to go normal, top closed, too! I was driving @ about 55-65 MPH and my top flew open! It was about 1/2 way, open. I drove right to my mechanic's shop to have it seen about! It took some manual help, but we got it closed. I knew it was latched right because it took a little bit of help from me closing. I take it tomorrow to where I got the top replaced to have it looked at. See ya!!

I thought something was wrong @ 1st. I think about 2-3 steps behind from y'all! It took me driving about 3-5 seconds before I realized something was wrong, an pulled it the hell over. Once you have everything go bad in your life that can go bad, you just say 'why not?' I know it can be fixed!

I take it to have it looked @ tom. Over the phone he said it sounds like the motor is bad. I think it works fine though. I think it is in the 'skeleton' metal insides. We'll see in the morning! I just hate leaving my top up when the sun is shining is all!!

I guess it was bound to happen, someday! I'm just glad I did not have anything planned! All I have is time! I just hope it will be kind of cheap to fix. I an really trying to buy the upgrades for my car, finally!

LOL, same thing happened to me also kind the other day. It was 65 F outside the first time in months so as i pulled out the garage i set there for about 3 minutes deciding if i was going to drop the top. Well, i decided not to and started to drive down my street. Now its a windy day for some reason. Shifted into 2nd and bang my top flew open.

I forgot i unlatched both latches when i first pulled out the garage    So, insted of looking like a fool in front of the people who just seen my top fly open. I let it all the way down and cruised like i wanted that to happen :xmas-smiley-022:

I just don't know how your top can fly open unless it wasn't latched properly. Or the hooks ripped off... ::D

Hope it didn't do too much damage.

Our tops have two levers along the front of the roof. When they are pushed in flush two hooks grab two latching devices. If the hooks aren't adjusted correctly the hooks may not grab the latches. But you can usually tell if that's the case.

Mine was latched though! I know for sure the driver's side was! It did not fit snuggly so I had to redo it like 3 times. That's how I know that was for sure. Also, when I went to close my lid, the latches were still in the 'closed' position!

I realized it is an all day thing when you have to take my top off, Next Mon or Tue works better be b gone all day. I can go that long without a road-trip!

Did the hooks or latches pull off? You probably tightened the hooks too much and they didn't grab the latches. If your levers were still flush and your hooks and latches were present, you probably thought you closed them but they missed the connection.

But... I still feel your pain bro!
