My Intake is......

My Intake has been cracked for a while now. I admit i could have had it fixed LOOOONG ago but i didn't. drive it daily and I'm having no probs at all. I need to drive it out of town this weekend and I'm a bit worry it will implode during the trip. Are there any sign that will tell my shes about to blow? what contributing factors aid in the destruction of the intake?

Yeah, when it starts to leak. Ha ha... I wouldn't be driving it if I was you, but since you made it this far, go for it. Good luck.

Mostly it's just poor design, that plastic crossover will weaken with years of heating and cooling, crack, and eventually let go. Better take a bunch of extra 50-50 mixed coolant with you...

Ok...I made it! I went 280+ miles(round trip) on my cracked intake. You dont have to tell me how lucky i was....I KNOW! Now its time to replace it. Im Looking @ this

this being a kit, is there anything else i will need? Im also thinking about changing the exhaust a bit. What are your opinions on a Pypes or BBK O\R X pipe?

Well I don't have one but it seems like a lot of guy around here are running the PI intakes on their non pi heads and claim to see big gains with it. So that being said I would go with the PI intake from LRS. Its like $60 cheaper too. From what I understand all you need with that is some high temp RTV. So someone stop me if this isn't correct. I think I've heard yall say like 20 hp gains were possible or something like that.

I got the intake back the other day. I thought i was gonna be able to pick up a bbk x locally but that didnt work out. I did order a Pypes X last night from 5.0 resto.... :thumb:
