Well . . if it's going to be competitive in NHRA Funny Car, which is what it was designed for, you are looking at upwards of 8,000 hp.

they would be stupid to disclose any of the specifications on it - look at the writing - "improved areas such as the main caps" - if that isn't vague, I don't know what is.

as a general rule, if a competitor tells a camera the motor is making about XXXX horsepower, multiply the number by 125% to get a rough estimate of what it actually puts out (obviously barring classes that restrict power output, then start thinking about how they manipulated the torque curve).

The only problem with the 8,000 HP figure is its theoretical. No one really knows how much they put down, for the simple reason that they would blow up even the most advanced dynos!

It's based on how fast they go and what they weigh. Same way I get my hp numbers. Depending on how you look at it, it's either more precise or less precise. For example, a horsepower calculator says my car is putting out about 560 at the wheels and about 725 at the crank. When my car was a street car, and I dynoed it on a Mustang dyno, the numbers were usually fairly close to the calculator numbers (but the calculator was usually a little higher).

The one thing that makes it harder to judge with a funny car is that they actually make a lot more power than they can use.

Frankly, I don't put a lot of stock in dyno numbers. I wanna know how fast a car runs the 1320!! :boink:

those are the ones that really matter in the long run
