My Quest to free up HP and save weight w/questions

So I want to free up space, hp, and save weight in the engine bay. So far, I have UDP's and an a/c delete pulley (not yet installed). I plan on grabbin a battery relocation kit and an eletric water pump (if one is available for my car). While looking around in the engine bay, I decided that the power steering pump could also be pitched.
One of my questions is, can I just pull the power steering pump and throw a pulley in it's place? Or is there a manual rack that I would have to swap in?
My other question is, are there any other "things" I can pull out of the engine bay to help with my goal?

Before people start flaming me for pulling these systems, I just want to let you know that the car is not my DD, it was bought to run at axe events and roadracing. All the creature conforts are of no importance to me.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

If you pitch manual steering you will need a manual rack (flaming river makes one) also if you do that you will need to figure out what your going to do with your brakes.... you have hydro boots (hydrualic assisted braking from the power steering, think diesel trucks)

You can do an electric water pump, but if you do tihs your going to be basically running a "short belt" ie Alternator, and crank only. You can make tihs work by shimming the alternator to get the correct belt tension.

So, when I get the manual rack, is there a pulley that I would install where the power steering pump would have been, or is it just a matter of using a shorter belt? I knew I would need a shorter belt with the electric pump, but don't understand what you mean by, "shimming the alternator".
Also, you threw a curveball at me with the comment on needing to do something with my brakes. I had no idea that the brakes had anything to do with the powersteering. Can you explain that more, or direct me to a write-up on that?
Thanks

The shorter belt is used to accept the missing Powersteering pulley and to go PAST the water pump. Im assuming you dont have AC also, so your belt would just bo around the alt and the crank. When I say SHIM the altnerator that basically means you shim the alternator UP to put tension on the belt and keep it taught. You can use washers you can use thin pieces of steal and drill a hole and put it under the alt so you actually rasie it up.

AS far as the brake thing, Hydro boost is a powersteering assisted brake setup. if you look at this picture on the right hand side ----> that side ..... the 3 gold lines. The Oe brake booster wont do the job by itself so you will have to do a conversion to manual or full vaccume set up.

ok...
I did do a little bit of askin around about the hydro boost system, in relation to swapping the powersteering for a manual rack. It was suggested to me that if I swap to a manual rack I would need to swap my current brake booster for a v6 booster. I'm guessing that the v6 boosters don't have the hydroboost system.
What are your thoughts on that?

v6 will work, but you could also get the Strange booster, and manual conversion and be done with it . Just easier then converting to vaccume and it will be lighter then then vaccume.

i was always under the impression that the reason ford didnt use the same vacuum booster on the 96-04 V8's was because it didnt fit, it would be hitting the valve cover, so im not too sure you would be able to just switch over to the v6 booster.
