I know this has probably been asked a million times, but I need help with my exhaust. It's all stock. After my warranty is up I can change out the exhaust. Only problem is, my dad won't let me change out the stock h-pipe with the 4 cats for a bbk catted x or catted h, he says there's no way your touching the cats it'll make a CEL come up and all that other stuff. There's no way I can convince him to let me change it. My question and problem is, how can I have a loud exhaust while I have the stock midpipe? I don't want SLP's because they don't really have any tone to them imo. I was told on another mustang site that no matter what I do if I keep the stock mid pipe my exhaust will never be loud? I've played around with the idea of getting mac pro dumps to see how they'll sound. I have to have mufflers and keep the stock mid pipe. I've read up that on 94 and 95 GT's if you change to a high flo catted mid pipe you probably won't get a CEL. Any suggestions that'll help clear up my problem? Thanks a lot!

How loud do you want? A cat-back will of course make it louder than stock. Dumps will make it decently louder and of course you have your typical magnaflow and flowmaster cat back setups.

All you have to do is get MIL eliminators. They connect to the rear O2 sensors and fool the computer in thinking they are reading correctly. I love my off road X and flowmasters.

I want it to be pretty loud, but not too loud. I'm undecided on what catback I'd pick, SLP sounds decent, Magnapacks sound great with a catted mid-pipe, but with a stock one I think it'd be too quiet and flowmaster is too generic for me even though it sounds great.

I forgot about the MIL eliminators, thanks for the tip. Just tryna see how loud I can make my car while keeping the stock midpipe because I can't change it. My original exhaust plans were magnapacks with a catted x.

Shoot just ditch the mufflers all together haha.

That's how I ran my Bronco back in the day. Cut the exhaust after the cats and ran a couple pipes out the back. But that's a truck lol

Then my suggestion would be just get the magnapacks for now and see how you like it. And if its not loud enough with stock mid pipe you could always add the catted x and mils later down the road

for your dad:
keeping all 4 o2 sensors in place will prevent the check engine light from coming on.

for you:
listen to your dad. lol. he knows whats best for ya.

if you want it louder with the OEM h pipe, you can still do that.... get a cat-back exhaust system. Flowmasters are pretty popular and easily found used. if thats not enough, get a set of shorty-headers and see how that goes. most places where you buy these parts can give you proper tech support on proper install and compatibility.

removing the cats on the 94/95 cars doesn't throw a CEL at all, there are only 2 O2 sensors on the car and they are before the cats so the car doesn't know the difference. I can understand why your dad wouldn't want you removing the cats but he's wrong about it throwing any lights.

if you're keeping the stock H pipe and want something loud that's not SLP (LM2 would probably sound alright with stock cats) I'd suggest something like the Magnaflow Magnapacks, Borla Stingers, Pacifica Boom Tubes, etc. anything not straight through probably won't be very loud.

Everyone always thinks 94/95 have 4 o2 sensors......I ditched those stupid cats a long time ago.....lol

Go ahead & try the Magnapacs & the stock cats!....That is my setup exactly & it is sweet! It has a beautiful rumbly tone at just idle speed then gets nice & loud at WOT! You will love it....I get kudos all the time for it plus it gets louder the more you drive it. The sound inside the cabin is beautiful but at 70 mph I can still hold a conversation, I really like the sound running against compression, it burbles & pops & rumbles so nice. It really turns heads everytime I fire it up sounds deep & muscular...but if you want more do an offroad H pipe later!

I found the whole magnapack catback for around 550- cheapest so far. A few +++ of this catback, all stainless steel and the big tips which look bad@ss imo
