A few weeks ago my super duty was stolen off my driveway. I had it for 2 weeks so I'm super pissed off :angry4: to say the least. To top it off I can't sleep at night now and neither can my family. I've beefed up home security but since i've replaced the truck I want to protect the new one as well.

At least this one has pats on it, i can't believe ford would build a truck that expensive and not put any type of anti theft on it.

I am looking for these options in order of importance:

2 way remote, because this time I'm going to make sure I know the damn alarm is going off. This may end w/ my picture being on the news but i'll feel better in the mean time.
additional starter disable if needed along w/ the pats
proximity sensor
shock or vibration sensor so they don't get all the wheels off, lol.
LOUD siren. I'm considering train horns or air raid type siren something that doesn't sound like the regular european ww2 ambulance that everyone ignores.

I'm liking the viper w/ the iphone app but it requires a service fee, etc. Is there any down side to low jack? does it always work?

I understand that if someone wants something they will take it but i want to make it has hard as possible for them.

anyone that has a good reliable system or some of you that are installers please chime in. Thanks

compustar does make some nice alarms, only company ive seen with a true 5spd safe remotes start.

viper is always great choice but the cost of the monthly monitoring fee for the iphone app is a little crazy, not to mention the cost of that total system is insane!!!

i wasnt aware viper had done that, been out of that industry for a while. what is their method of a fail safe?? compustars leaves the car runnig until you get out and arm the alarm, it then shuts car off. if you disarm and open car it will disable the remote start unless you go thru the fail safe process again.

Same as compustar, you have a sequence of steps required in order to enable the remote start. Like being in neutral....

I recently installed a viper responder 350 2-way pager with back up battery and tilt sensor in my 97.

I'm very happy with it, the 2-way remote uses a normal AAA battery unlike my old crimestopper 2-way which used a coin cell that only lasted a month...

A tiger? Who do I look like, Mike Tyson? Imma get a peacock and put that sucker in the center console and let it jump out while they're driving down the road.

Sounds like I need to look into the newer viper stuff a little more and the compustar

so far i've gone to 2 local places and had horrible luck w/ getting any service or questions answered. How hard are these to install properly if i order the stuff myself? I'm capable of doing basic stereo installs cleanly and other stuff like that.

I dont recommend it. Ill just say that before Scott jumps in here. I was an Install tech and basic audio is a breeze compared to remote start / alarm installs.

Alarms are a pita, but I have installed 2, just take your time and solder + heatshrink!

The door locks and trunk pop all require relays on these cars too, I think I used 5 relays for the alarm in my 97.

if you have factory keyless you do not need relays on our cars, but only if you had factory keyless.
