Ok so the mustang didnt make it home tonight. I have replaced the coil, coolant temp sensor, and fixed my pcv system. Tonight while on the highway it was going just find and then all of a sudden the power just dropped and it had the miss fire again. Finally coming to a dead stop with it fighting to stay running. Im currently waiting on a call from the tow company to bring it back home. Im pretty much at a loss. Im going to check the timing tomorrow after I get off work to make sure some how it didn't pick a new spot. The dizzy is tight though. It is running massively rich. Im going to try to pull codes again tomorrow after work. Ive thought about disconnecting the battery to see if that changes anything but ill wait to see if I can get codes out of it. Odd thing is my battery light is also on, but i believe that to be unrelated. I tried unplugging the maf sensor but it seemed like it ran worse.

Review: Symptoms Running ruff, fighting to stay
idling, Running very very rich, some time is runs ok others I cant even make it accelerate.

Replaced Coil, coolant temp sensor

As for mods it has mac LT headers, o/r x into some dumps, gears, ported stock heads, 1.7 rr, e303 cam, cobra intakes and throttle body, and a bama chip.

sounds like it need a dyno tune bro. i have a good friend with a 95 cobra sporting ported trick flow heads, b303 cam, and few more goodies. but never tuned it. finally the car started running exactly as u describe.

Ill check the grounds out tomorrow after work as well. Can you tell me exactly where they are by chance? Its strange why out of no where it would start running like crap. It has a off the shelf tune, but not a dyno tune.

One thing to add as well. Not sure if this could be related (but I think it is) For the past year when cruising down the highway, I would get a random what felt like a miss. It was quick, did it once on the rare occation twice and then would be find for another 30 or so miles. then another one. Im really leaning towards the dizzy.

Dizzy. That last bit you just posted gives me the same feeling. I'm assuming its on the original untouched distributor...?

When it cut off on you, did it happen quick... and EVERYTHING went blank for a second and then popped back on? Like someone flicked a main on/off switch? If so, sounds like a classic dist. pickup sensor failing symptom..

Since the battery light is on, you should look into the alternator first. Do you have a multimeter? It should be putting out @ 14.5vdc at any rpm.
The dizzy could be headed south too, but I'd look into the alt. first.

I think distributor as well. A tune will not make it not run. My mod list is almost identical to yours, no tune, runs just fine.

The voltage light is from a loose connection on my disconnect. It starts fine and runs at 14.25 or so. That's from my auto meter gauge in the car. I'm buying a richporter dizzy from work today. Brand new and comes with a cap and rotor. So after I get the Honda out if I have time ill change this. I almost wonder if maybe the gear is warn an off a bit. Yes it should be the oem dizzy as well

i'd have to agree with distributor, or more specifically the PIP. it could be the alt/battery but it will usually not sputter, just die when the battery is drained.

If you get a combination of a weak alternator and weak battery, it will play hell on the ECM and voltages supplied/received from EVERYTHING computer controlled will be affected. The gear could be worn slightly but I doubt it.
