4.10s leave almost no first gear.. 3.73s are fine. I had 4.10s with my 5 speed, fun to mess around with. But honestly driving it constantly shifting got annoying quickly. 3.55s are perfect, plenty of bark for me. Useable first gear, rpms are decent.
I enjoyed the stock 2:73gear with the 2v 5.4l. The gear matched perfectly to the very low rpm grunt the engine had. The interstate straights where it was the most fun!
Unless turbo'd, I do not recommend 2:73 rear for the 4.6l
