I clearly got the wrong ones because i had the wrong guide.
What series will fit in the bracket of the rearview mirror lights?

You'll have to get different LED's. I don't think its worth trying to rig something up to make it work.

Did you check Superbright?

Thanks Ferocious this will definitely help me out, now I dont have to depend on the goofballs at the local auto parts store to tell me which ones.

My buddy has the package for the normal dome lights from superbright. I just don't remember the part number off the top of my head.

Those are the ones, they are a bit touchy though. Need to find a way to get them clamped in better or something.

You are right, they're not the exact same size as the original but there's a simple solution for that one...

1. Place your thumb and pointer finger on the outside of the clamps.
2. Squeeze a little.

Ta-da.

I don't have a vert, but I imagine they are the same.

Justang, I figured as much. They aren't in my car, and we put them in my buddys car while it was deciding to monsoon. Along with the cluster lights and HVAC.

So, we were just trying to get er done.

COURTESY OF DALAMAR...

First thing I'm doing for the new year is ordering some LED's to do this mod

Trey is the man, and this is a great & affordable upgrade to do to your mustang.

So I just ordered the bulbs, cool white as shown.
I was thinking - why not do the dome lights as well?
Looking on suprebrightleds.com, it looks like they have a bulb that will fit that as well.

Here's my mini write:
DOME LIGHT TXCobra Style:

1- Pop off the lense cover with a small screw driver
2- remove the 3 screws that hold the dome light to the roof
3- disconnect the 3-prong power plug

Here you've got the light:
The dome light and accessory lights are the same bulb.

To remove accessory bulbs, filp it over, and pop them out.
you can pull up the reflector flap to give you a little more room.

Checking on the same site (superbrightleds.com) page 2 of the automotive lights, scroll down and you'll see the same type of cylinder shaped bulbs.
So they've got 39mm and 42mm...

mm to in conversion is .03937
So if I take 39MM(.03937) = 1.53"

So that should fit.
I checked in my F450, and it's the same dome/bulb, so I ordered a few for it also.

The bulbs I ordered are the 3910x6 LED Festoon Bulb

I'll post up my results once it arrives.

UPDATE!
these put out a nice clean white light, brighter than the stock filiment bulbs, but not too bright.

PIX.

AS you can see they taper down on the ends - this makes them a little shorter than the stock bulbs, but they will still fit in the sockets.

squeeze the tabs a little closer together for a tighter fit
leddome7.jpg

snap them it.
You can get the middle one, and could probably get the outside switched bulbs in while it's in the car.
I just pulled it out to inspect them and take pictures.

Here's the light output.
Center bulb, door switch. the light from 1 bulb.

The center and both sides turned on

I really like how mine turned out:

Pull your license plate lights out, swap those in, see if you like it. I think they will fit...it's a 5 minute task so give it a shot.
