Maybe you guys can help. Im having electrical problems something serious on my 95 gt:mad:. Lights dimming, gauges going crazy and the car shutting off when I disconnect the battery. Just put a new alt on thinking that was the problem but its still doing it. Ive been told a ground wire so I checked all the grounds I know of. Any info would be greatly appreciated Thanks

Still sounds like a alternator to me, though i'm not very experienced with electrics. I'd test your new alternator to make sure you didn't get a bad one.

Do you have a digital multimeter?
Test the output of the alternator at the alternator and at the battery. it should be putting oout about 14.5 vdc+/-.5.
Is this a new problem or did you buy it with the problem?

Weird. Is the wire connecting the back if the alternator tight? Are the two connectors loose? Also, I'd turn on every electrical accessory in the car and check the voltage. It shouldn't deviate from. 14.5 or so. Check it right on the battery terminals. Also, those test stations can lie, I've tested bad starters that come out fine in the tester, same for the alternator.

It sounds to me like either you've got a bad ground or the alternator. Break out the haynes manual and follow the wiring diagram for the charging system. This wil lead you to all grounds and 12V wires that are in the system. There seems to be something not making a complete circuit since is shutting of when you disconnect the battery
