So I bought it with a very light squeal, which over almost 2K has gotten worse, so naturally, I replaced the TOB, and Pilot Bearing.
I was driving home from the shop.....squeal..

Oddly enough the symptoms are exactly the same, the squeal goes away when I depress the clutch.
So any ideas?

Now please remember I am not stateside, so FORD is 1000% outta the question. They charge 100-200 Euro just for diagnosis.

The squealing could just be the clutch cable out of adjustment. Do you have an aftermarket sshifter? If so the stops could be set wrong not allowing it to completely engage 5th

Hmm.

No it's all stock.

The only thing I can think, is when I had to adjust it when I reconnected it to the tranny.
I did the pedal adjustment, it clicked, and all was well.

So possibly the clutch cable?
I could always use an excuse to get an adjustable one :)

frpp bearing retainer. the stock one is like a cheap soft pot metal. when you install new bearing did you lube the shaft also? mild detail but dramaticly helps.

Yay just got back from the field!

Um thanks for the input, I'll be looking for that retainer.
And as for lube....no.
Didn't think to, the self lubed portion had me a bit overconfident in this.

I'm thinking new retainer, new clutch kit, that has a new pilot, TOB, and alignment tool.

That with lube, you guys think that should do the trick?

I've always hated the T5, and now I am starting to hate the T45.

again thanks for the input, I'm gonna get to work on that....now to just wait forever for LRS to ship to me.

Will be looking at it next month.
I found the retainer, on LRS, but although it is Ford Racing, it says OEM replacement. But anything's gotta be better than this.

The original squeal sounded like a TOB to me, as far as a retainer if you are willing to pay shipping I have about 7 bells sitting around with retainers still on them.

Im dealing with the same problem right now, so i kno what you mean! Pretty aggrivating! Just replace my clutch, TO bearing, pilot bearing, pressure plate and flywheel and still have the TO bearing squeal. So im assuming its the retainer as ive heard many people say they put crappy alluminum that flexes over time.

yeah, I'll be redoing the entire front end of the tranny.

TOB PB, retainer, flywheel.

If this doesn't do it, well, hehe, tax season is around the corner, no reason not to do a t56 swap.

I would quickly peek at the clutch fork and how the cable is attached. That was a lot of work already done, might get lucky. Good luck wit it.

mine actually makes a very very faint squeeking with the rpms that goes away if I just put a hair on the pedal. I was assuming that it just needed an adjustment but has not give me any issues.

Yes, That's been the story for me too. For the last 100K miles or so, if I hear that squeal and then tighten the clutch cable just a tiny bit, it goes away. I remember having to do it about a year ago shortly after replacing the flywheel, clutch, cable ect. I hope it works too.
