I just got my 2000 GT, and I have noticed that over really rough roads or bumps, that there is a clunking sound. It isn't my rear end or my tranny mount. I also don't think that it is the lower control arms as they have been upgraded to global west by the previous owner. Could it be the upper control arms? They looked to be stock when I was under the car. Also the car will clunk when I let the clutch out too fast, or when I am in gear and give it gas and let off? Any help? Is there a common part that goes bad on the rears?

Thanks,
Ryan

If its not loose driveshaft bolts then the backlash in the rear gears is not set up correctly. It could also be something as simple as the catback shifting around and needs tightening.

Thanks for the replies. I forgot to mention, it isn't the drive shaft either, I checked all of that. I am not sure what is an ok amount of play in the rear end lash. It has about 1/8 to 1/4 inch of play? It doesn't feel bad, and I don't think anyone has replaced anything in the rear.
