Hey guys, i've got a question... My younger brother (one of them, i have 3) bought his first car today... a '95 Mustang GT, black with the tan leather interior, Satin Cobra R's and Cobra R hood. HOWEVER when he took the car for a test drive he said the Speedo is 20 MPH OFF, and the odometer doesn't work. the guy CLAIMS it had 84,000 miles when it stopped working. however he said it really has about 87,000. my question is, does anyone have any ideas as to what could be the problem with the odometer and the speedo?
My Speedo and Odometer stopped on my '95 a few months after i bought it, however it was the wire harness that connects on the passenger side of the engine compartment to the main harness and runs down to the tranny... could this be the problem, or could it be something else? any help is needed... he was going to pass it up, but the guy made him an offer he couldn't refuse, so he bought the car... only problem with it, is the speedo and odometer... need you guys's help... what ya got for me? :dancing6:

does the car have gears ? if it does then probably just need to get the matching speedo gear that goes in the tranny or the stock speedo gear is worn and not working properly, just something to check out

that is what i asked. the guy he bought it from said as long as he's owned it, it's had stock gears. could somebody have put gears in it, changed the little plastic gear in the tranny, then at some point swapped back to factory gears, and left the wrong plastic gear in the tranny? I know he's taking it to our mechanic whom we've used for 20 years back home, and i used to work for... he's a diehard mopar guy, but if there's a problem John will know... I just want to try and help them out, and give them a good starting point to save them time, as i know they are always super busy.

I'm having a problem with my speedo, it stops at 90ish mph. No mechanical friction or hanging up on anything, i've checked that by pulling the entire cluster out already. It works fine up to that point. :dunno:

I believe my brother is just going to take the car to our Family's mechanic and have him check it out... I'll post up some info when i get it, though it may not help you out 9psi 98, because your's works up to 90.lol
as for Silverstang_94, Sorry i didn't get pictures... this weekend blew by, and i was absolutely loaded with stuff. with the wife starting school, and the baby in day care, and myself working, and going out to sea for a few weeks on thursday, i was unable to get under the car... i'll try before i leave, but i can't promise anything...
