negative voltage from harness

i was checking the voltage in my harness the other day and some how i was getting a negative voltage. when i was using my tuner it was reading a negative voltage at the ect. so i changed it and still same thing. can anyone tell me where to start or what to look for.

do you need to use your tuner to ck voltage or can you use a DMM.
What exactly are you testing "in your harness"?

regular harness 95gt and quarterhorse. i used both a volt meter and just happened to see the negative voltage on the tuner. but i got the same result with both.

yea like he said with a DMM you can just swap the leads and it will read the same thing just Neg. Now if your tuner is showing it I would start to wonder if you lost a diode in the alt.

Which "regular" harness?

oh, K-then stock regular wiring harness. That narrows it down as well is if I gave you directions to that road, you know the ones with the lines on it, and a stop sign too!
