Hi guys! Now that Ive had this thing a couple of days I have a couple of questions. Ive searched the forums and the net but havent found all my answers.

1. Dome light stays on. Switch is off. Will try the wd40 and unplugging door switches. Anything else it could be?

2. How many interior lights are there besides the dome light on my 97? I couldnt find any under the dash.

3. Anything else besides the main or worm gear that would keep the odometer and tripmeter from working?

4. What are some of the common things that go wrong that I should look at? Plugs and wires look new. Its running rough.

I have a couple more that I cant think of right now lol. You get the idea tho thanks~!

Well as far as the dome light issue, only thing I can think of is if the sensor that tells the light to shut off in the door has failed. If that's fine the it could be a blown fuse or short somewhere.

As far as the speedo goes, if those two are fine, then a sending unit is bad somewhere. I'm not sure if the V6 uses a mechanical or electronic sending unit, but that's something to look into.

If it's running rough there are a lot of things that could be wrong. Firstly, are all of the spark plug wires snug on the coil pack/plugs. If they are, how is the coil pack, maybe it's going out and isn't firing properly. What's the gap on the plugs, were they gaped acordingly, if not, that would cause some issues. If all that checks out time to move onto sensor issues. Top sensors that could cause problems are the mass air sensor failing or sending faulty info, idel air control sensor sending faulty info or failing, and the throttle position sensor failing or sending faulty info. If all those check out, what about the fuel pump and fuel filter. Is the fuel pump turning on and priming when you go to start the car, is it functioning properly. Also, what about the fuel filter is it old and clogged?

Needless to say you have a lot of stuff to look into.

1. if you press the switch with your hand does it turn off? it is probably the switch, a dealership charged me $17 for one. check any fuses like Jthorn said

2. the dome light is the only light that is controlled by the doors opening. and then there is the two lights that are controled by switches in the dome assembly. if you're worried about the battery draining until you fix the dome light problem, i just removed the bulb from the dome light until i got y new switch from Ford. the plastic cover jsut pops off with a flathead srewdriver.

3. not really, not much more to break that would affect the Odometer and tripmeter.

4. Fuel filter, coilpack, O2 sensors, clean air filter, clean the MAF, dirty fuel injectors, vacuum leaks. any check engine lights?

Check engine light was on when I bought it, my friend scanned it and pulled egr codes but there is a pretty bad exhaust leak near the manifold somewhere, havent looked at it that good yet. Cleared the codes and the light hasnt come back on yet but Im hoping the egr code is related to the exhaust leak?

Is there a guide around for testing the sensors? My bf has an 88 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe, would setting the tps and cleaning the IAC be about the same for my car? Ive watched him do all these things but would love to learn to do it myself. Thanks
