Hey, guys.

Just registered here since I inherited my dad's Yellow 1998 GT -- he died nearly 2 years ago and I finally got the paperwork straight and now the car is in the driveway. I'm 33 and no stranger to sports cars. I have owned 3 500+rwhp C5 Vettes, a Trans-Am, 2 400+ rwhp Z28s, and a GTO. I'm a Chevy guy by nature, but this car means alot to me because it was his and he loved it.

Looking forward to talking to all of you.

Mike

Sorry for the loss, my mother is sick at the moment, they found a mass in the head of her pancreas that 3 specialists have identified as malignant, it's sad to lose any loved one, but at least you have what I'm sure is a fine piece of his life as remembrance... Once again sorry for the loss, post some pics.

Welcome to the site!

Looks like you've owned some pretty sweet rides.
Got any pictures of any of those or the new mustang?

I guess I should say it looks MINT lol. Is it completely stock? That'd be great to have an unmolested car!

It's pretty much stock besides a CAI and exhaust.... however, the Non-PI motor is getting very tired (stuck a couple lifters and spit out a few cam followers that I fixed this weekend), so I'm actually thinking of alot of conversions to do to it....

Option A:
PI heads for $250 + labor.

Option B:
5.4L truck engine + labor ????

Option C:
Built 306 carb setup that's already gone 10.90s in a coupe that I can get for $500... plus a new UMI K-Member and coil overs setup $600, plus a slightly built AOD and new 3600 stall for $400 --- or find a rebuilt T-5 or maybe even a TKO if it's not too much.

I honestly like Option C the best --- I'm not a fan of the modular 2v stuff.

Anyone do any 4.6 ---> 5.0 conversions for the 96-98 SN95? Does it REALLY suck? Can you point me in the right direction to a forum here that talks about builds and advice?

:D

Thanks,

Mike

Welcome! Nice array of vehicles you've had. I'm pretty sure most of us appreciate GM cars here as well, I myself am a Pontiac guy by nature. Never did get me a Trans Am though :/

Option C sounds the best, but idk about the conversion to 5.0. Modulars are pretty cool too though; well 4v's that is ;)

Welcome to the board and I live in Dallas now but I'm from Metairie. I'm a few years older then you but we might know some of the same people, lol.

I love the car and modular motors are great, excluding the first generation. I think you should build the short block, upgrade the heads and get a blower. Keep the car easy and fun to drive and even with good gas mileage.... For what it is. You can easily get to 500hp and get over 22mpg.

FYI, I love the car. I almost bought a yellow Gt in 98.

Welcome to the family!! Glad to see another Louisiana member!!

I'm sorry for your loss bro! I have a similar story; my dad passed away in 2010 and I inherited a yellow VW new beetle. Lol, hardly a sports car but sentimental to me just the same.

Again, welcome and maybe I'll run into ya at NOLA Motorsports Park!!
