I was thinking that I might need a set on the car sometime soon so I ordered all the parts for it. Naturally going to do a HID retrofit with some fun custom stuff. I went with a one piece even though i know the fitment issues they tend to have. My idea is to get them physically aligned so they are straight on the car with out the lens sealed back on and then align the projector so that it is aimed to the correct place before I put the lense back on

It didn't take long to get them apart and see how they will fit.

Now the only decision is colors. I think I will do the front bezel in body color and then skin the rear reflector with some left over CF pieces I have around

Those one piece lights look good if they're aligned correctly. I like your plan to get them straight with the body first. I took mine off and gave them away because it was either lined up with the body or functional as a light in stock form. Keep us posted with your progress man!

I have read about them fitting like crap since they came out but always like the general look of them. hopefully this will solve that issue.

Can't wait to see the end result! I've had the same idea basically. I had planned on just painting the housing black, but you've got me thinking about how carbon fiber would look.

Well if you were curious here is what they look like in black and now funny enough I am debating the body color/cf/black combination myself lol. I didn't like the raised/fluted section on the turn signal so I am getting rid of them. Any small dips remaining will get filled in the next section.

Took longer then I thought to get this far after spending 2 days in bed. I hope to get more done this weekend but I also hope to take the stang for a short drive as well as hit a huge hot rod show. The next thing will be to add the cf and that takes some time to cure but I am also waiting on some parts for the turn signal as I decided to get a little funky with it, if my idea works.

Finally got some more time on it. Now you can see the start of my crazy plan, its not done yet....

the one in the parking light is obviously giving me some trouble with 10 lbs of crap in a 5 lb sack but it will submit. 4 eyes are better then 2 right?

ya can't make an egg with out breaking a few omlettes! I didn't even show what I had to do to the HID housing to get it in there but I am pretty sure I voided the warranty.

Here is the problem at hand. I need to bring the shroud in about a 1/4" but will also need to make it so the lens goes over it. I think it can work, but I try not to think.

Honestly, not crazy with how the turn signal looks.... BUT normally I feel that way about your ideas until its finished and you usually knock it out of the park. Excited to see these done and mounted up with the front end you've got on your car.

the outer set will use a relay to turn them off and light up an orange demon eye when the signal is activated. I am still a little pissed that the HID shrouds to not match better but I am also toying with the idea of firing up the shop bot and making some rings to stack design my own to match but that is a little more time then I want to put into them.

I can't believe how long this project has drawn out but one thing after another in life keeps popping up from taking dad to the ER with chest pains to watching the neighbors hyper overgrown puppy for a night, to my usual health stuff to slow me down. running the wire and planning for all of it has also taken longer then I thought just because I am drawing up wiring schematics to put in my new manual so I can remember what I did later on. But today I got to test it all out
demon eyes - I thought about going for the multicolor but other then maybe blue I didn't see myself using any other colors.

I also installed the white strip you see behind the trim. I wanted to see what it looked like as it uses a sequential signal that I think looks pretty cool but at the moment I will need to slow down the flash to get the full effect as right now it only lights up a little less then half way before it resets(anyone remember that post about switching out a cap in the flasher to do this?). It also has daytime driving lights that I do not plan on using but damn they are brighter then I thought they would be.

Now that I am ready to put the bumper on like I said i am watching an overgrown puppy for the next 24 hrs.

its a white silicon strip with an orange and white led strip inside. The turn signals will go sequentially from the center out, I don't plan on using the daytime driving light option much if ever.

anyone remember that post about switching out a cap in the flasher to do this?
Not sure where the post is but I did that mod myself to my 94 when I installed a sequential turn signal kit, you have to replace the capacitor in the flash relay with a higher capacity one. Though i cant for the life of me remember the size.
I know you can also buy a flasher relay from amarican muscle i believe that does this but it costs like $50 if i remember correctly, vs $1 and some easy soldering and a tiny bit of your time...

Those headlights look amazing. Job well done.

Thanks I have been dying to try and finish them up but been too busy watching the neighbors puppy. In my time inside with her though I found there are plenty of vids that show how to do it. I would be surprised if I do not already have the capacitor and the soldering skills so no way $50.

or a solder sucker or desoldering braid yes. If anyone is interested in doing this you can do damage both to electrical components and to the board by putting too much heat on while removing solder like this guy did. As logan said they make a special soldering iron that has the ability to suck out the solder while it heats it, There is another tool that is basically a metal spring loaded syringe that you heat it up with and then put the tip of the sucker on it and push the button which makes the spring shoot the plunger causing it to suck out the solder. Both of those are tools that a tech would have and if your only doing a one time repair then look into desoldering braid. Its just fine copper wire that is braided and you put it on top of the solder puddle and then put your soldering iron on top of the braid. When the braid heats up it the solder is attracted to it and it moves into teh braid. All of these will keep the heat to a minimum, or hell send it to me and I will do it for a few bucks.
