Long time owner. Just picked up a new project and need a lil help with it. Came across a 95 gt convertible for a good price and decided it had the will to live ha. Car has been in a storage building for over 8 months and was sitting God only knows for how long before that. Went to pick car up and put fresh fuel in it abd it did crank, but ran like crap. Got it loaded on the trailer and back to my shop and it became apparent why it was running so poorly. No distributor hold down at all. Timing was somewhere around 6 degrees btdc. Number 6 and 7 plug wires were swapped up and all the plugs looked 20 yrs old. Then got to looking around under hood and found the main vacuum line going to the tree missing as well. Keep in mind this thing fired up and drove onto the trailer.
So now I'm trying to get everything else figured out. Runs 100 times better than it did but having issues with the fuel pressure. For first 45 seconds or so on cold start it runs at 38psi with fpr line off. Idles fine and revs great. Then at about the 1 min mark the pressure starts violently fluctuating between 32 and about 24psi and when i rev it it drops to about 8 and falls flat on its face. Any help would be appreciated. I ordered a walbro 255 for it since i have a few goodies for it already but wanted to get this problem straight before changing heads, cam, intake, AND exhaust

Fuel pump and fuel filter could be gummed up if it's sat for a very long time.

Are you still getting a vacuum leak possibly??

Also ran codes and its come up with a 553 and 564 code. Car has no smog pump and egr wasnt getting any vacuum. Also from what I've read the 564 has to do with a electric fan fault but the fan comes on high and low when reading codes???????

15-17 is about right if I remember correctly.

If it has no egr the question is was a chip installed to eliminate that feature??? If not that will cause some idle issues.

First things first, give it a solid tune up including plugs and wires. Change fuel filter and possibly fuel pump if you already ordered it. See how it's doing after all that.

Make sure you gotten every last drop of the fuel out and fill up with new fresh fuel.

So far I've changed plugs, wires, set timing to 14, cap and rotor, fixed vacuum leaks that i could find, and replaced thermostat since the housing was leaking. I picked up a set of 3 bar gt40 heads and explorer intake with a set of ev6 19lb injectors from the local salvage yard for 150 bucks so most of this will be going on it once i get the heads back from the machine shop. It already had a explorer intake on it but who ever put it on used the stock upper intake bolts on the explorer upper. Also has a bbk 75mm throttle body, trick flow elbow, bbk cold air intake, msd coil, a mallory billet distributor, and no cats with straight pipes to flowmaster 40s. The guy i got it from said he was told it had a aftermarket cam in it but now that the plug wires are on right and its not missing any more it sounds closer to stock to me. I may pull the cam when i swap heads just to find out. Also have long tube bbk headers and a x pipe that came with the car and a msd 6al box i had in the closet ill probably throw on it. Was thinking about getting a trick flow stage 1 cam for it if the cam ends up being stock. Any of this sound like a bad idea? I want to get it running decent before i start putting any of this on just to be sure i wont have any problems from whats there now after

Well i changed the pump, cleaned out the tank, and changed the filter. Now it cranks and revs but when it idles it surges and dies out unless i pull the line on the regulator and leave it open. If i cap off the spot where the regulator is hooked up it dies. Almost like its running so rich it needs a vacuum leak to get enough air. I also think its gas fouled a couple plugs again but haven't pulled em to check yet. I'm beginning to think there's a problem with the injectors on cylinders 6 and 7. This is the 3rd time ive changed plugs

Checked the codes again over the weekend and all the codes its throwing are smog related. No rich or lean codes or nothing. Seems to run decent until it warms up a little and out of loop. Any ideas?
