Just picked up a new project. Body’s in great shape and everything works for having only 130k besides engine has a knock. Have not been able to find another close by replacement mustang engine but have a Crown Vic 4.6 2v that looking to transplant. Any input if anyone’s done this would be appreciated. 6F567477-908A-4715-8DF7-2B1ADBD503EA.jpeg

Welcome along!

The crown vic engine will swap out fine. There might be a few swap over issues like different bolt sizes or different belt routings but nothing a weekend wrencher cant handle.

Im assuming by your screen name your new found project is an 02 model meaning it will have an 8 bolt crankshaft and the crown vic will be 6 bolt crankshaft, so a simple flywheel/flex plate swap will need to be in order along with a pilot bearing for the vic engine if yours is a maual trans.

Just note that the crownvics cams are not the same as mustangs, despite what the internet tells you. I have mapped many stock camshafts from most of the modular platforms and have found the camshafts are model specific. Mustangs and 5.4l trucks getting the best performing modular cams. Their wont be any tunning issues, just a slight reduction in performance.

The 02 should have a 6 bolt flywheel if it’s the original motor. 01 was the model year with both.

Transplant went great. Have been testing it for a week now. Haven’t gotten on it yet as listening for any sounds. No leaks smoke or anything. Did find the intake manifold was cracked so that was replaced. Only thoughts that I didn’t first disclose are that previous engine was cammed and tuned soooo this engine runs fine but converted need to get car reflashed.

Oh nice now you have 8 thread spark plug heads. They’re less prone to spitting plugs.
