New Rotors

I posted this in the 4v section cuz my new rotors need to fit under my Cobra calipers.
Shortly down the road, i'll be investing in some new rotors. I would prefer drilled and slotted or dimpled and slotted, but drilled or slotted will work. I want to stop on a dime, and look good doing it. Brakes are no place to count pennies, so money aint a thing.
What would some of you recommend?

My dad just bought front and rears from sumitt for his Mach. They fit with no problems. I think they were about $70.00 each.

thats pretty much the only reason i wanted them, for the looks. i think the car stops good enough with the stock brakes. even if i didnt feel much of an improvement in stopping power id be satisfied by the looks.

the saleen rims have so much space you can see everything inside of them so i thought it would really look good.

they are being shipped from CA. supposivly they ship quick so i should be expecting them by next week sometime

^^ yea i can understand for that reason and would do the same thing. Pay alot for them?

Yea if you were tracking the car staying with blank disks is better(ask ciotti).. the only way your really gunna feel a difference is by upgrading the whole system.

they werent expensive at all. think i paid 260 for front and back together. thats pretty cheap considering some places want 300 bucks for just the fronts. from reading the testimonials from customers, they seem to be excellent products.

i wish i would have went with drilled slotted and dimpled, bc they were not much more and they came with a set of brake pads, which i will now have to buy bc i just bought drilled/slotted and they dont come with pads.

the rotors arrived a couple days ago but theres one problem. the front pads dont fit on the rotor correctly! they said they were guaranteed to fit. i made sure it was for a 1996 Cobra. the area on the rotors where the pads should touch is larger then the pad itself. but the rotors still fit correctly. ill post some pics showing it tomorrow. the back ones fit fine though.

going to give them a buzz tomorrow and see wth went wrong

smh

no need for drilled/slotted unless its really for looks.

Otherwise they could crack and they will eat away at your brakepads.
So what would recommend? Straight up slotted no drill?

Im looking to shorten my stopping distance. when a bigass truck pulls out in front of me i could give a fuck what they look like

Yeah slotted/drilled rotors won't help stopping distance at all. Just help a LITTLE with cooling but they are mainly for looks. Just make sure you get good quality ones if you get drilled or as stated about they can crack.

If you feel you need to.. slotted.. Otherwise just a set of Bear Blanks.. like the ones that are on the car stock. Or if you can find um. Blank rotors that are vented.

Thank god i had this info thrown at me before i went to buy new rotors..From my man who feels he wasted his money on his 2 piece(i think) slotted rotors. So im good to go sticking with my stock ones. Just waiting to redo all 5 brake lines with SS one i have sittin here with some high grade synthetic brake fluid.

are you talking about how theres paint streaks on the area before it curves up into the hub?

If thats what you mean ide say thats normal and it all just needs a little to be broken in. But you can ask the company if your still unsure. Or im sure someone whos a complete expert on breaks might chime in.

If thats not where or what ur talking about then im not sure

yeah they are still breaking in i barely drove with them.

what im saying is that black strip of paint closest to the hub is about 1 inch and the brake pads dont touch it.

i just think its wierd but i guess there's nothing wrong with it. just looks silly, like the pads are too small.

ive already spoken to the company on the phone and send them pictures. i had to remove the wheel and get the part numbers today so they can review everything. ill prob here from them later on tomorrow, bc i send them the numbers in an email, along with a few more pics

Yes that's normal but you have them facing the wrong way. You want them to go like this:

yea that inch? The part where the black streaks right before the break curves up into the hub? Ide say its normal and just need to be broken in ore..

And if the rotors are directional.. Make sure you put them on the correct side/front or back.

Made that mistake when we first put them on ciottis car.. had to take um off and swap um around.. only 10 mins later but either or theyr made to go a certain way ^^^ liek he said
