Best sound I got out of my sixer was long tubes, pair of high flow cats from Magnaflow and Spin Tech Split Case Sportsman mufflers. Also scooped up the most power compared to any other set up we tried. I ended up ditching the long tubes in favor of stock manifolds though... LTs were custom bent and too close to the ground for track days.

When I went 4.2L, the tone dropped lower. When I added the blower, it got a bit more 'throaty' sounding. I loved it. Mean, but def not a V8. Turned a lot of heads when I drove it. People didn't know what to make of it.

LilRoush, so itake it that the long tubes and sportman mufflers etc were part of the stock 3.8 set up. If so, thats exactly what i wanna do for starters without having to change the cam and all of the other stuff ive been reading in this section.

I love the way both Oranges car and Jeremys cars sound, Jeremys car has the sickest idle, but about gears, if you have an automatic car I highly and I mean HIGHLY recommend not getting 4.10s if you're going to do any highway driving what so ever, because I've got an auto car and I have 3.55s and it turns 2500 rpms at 70, so with 4.10s it would probably be closer to 3000 rpms which would just utterly destroy your highway mileage. I honestly like my 3.55s, and I would probably like 3.73s more but I got the gears for basically free but post some pictures of it up! and welcome!

yeah ive been debating about the gears since i picked this one up. I have 4.10's in my 96 but its a 5 speed and mainly used for around town on the weekends. This will be more my dd but i would like a little get up and go once in a while. On the freeway @ 60 mph im turning around 1700. So i have room but dont wanna get too crazy.

Yes, that set up was on a stock 3.8 and when I did the heads/cam set up. Got rid of the LTs prior to the 4.2L and blower.

LilRoushs sixxer was sick!

Thanks!

It sounds like it was a force.

It was....way back when. It made a lot of people re-think what a V6 could do. And all b/c I got sick of hearing how the V6 would never make power.

I know what u mean, from what the previous owner says, the engine was rebuilt and bored out a bit. Dont know how much or anything but what i do know is, i dont have any problems jumping on the freeway and pulling into the flow. Im not sure though, just sayin'...
