just take some sand paper and a sanding block and sand down the high points of the paint back down to the bare aluminum on the plate. Use a low grit and be carefull to only go back-forth in one direction and you will leave it with a brushed finish which on the wrinkle black should pop prety well.

That sounds like a good idea scott! Im gonna try the letter painting first this weekend and take pics and see how it turns out and try that if it doesnt turn out the way i like it.

those look nice!

if you want to keep messing with it, my initial thought: paint your TB and Alt housing to match! that would look sweet and tie it all together.

are you going to take the wrinkle paint out of the letters before you paint them? If you don't I am not sure how it would look.

Yeah im going to remove the paint from the letters.

I thought about doing the alternator and TB but im not sure how to do the alt without paint get through the slots and getting on the internals. The stuff is pretty sticky before it dries completely and stays pretty wet for a few hours.

ever since I saw thorco3's polished cobra and he said he did it himself I have been planning on going that rout. Not looking forward to the act of polishing it but I am looking forward to the look when completed.

Ya know, i really thought about doing that. But polishing this intake would be a ton of work. The cobra intakes have a smoother finish from what ive seen and the factory finish on this was kind of rough so i decided to paint it.

I think it will be my winter project next year. My back hurts just typing it...........

I do alot of slide polishing on 1911 builds i do when the customer asks for a stainless steel frame. The side of the slides can take me almost a whole day to do, and 5 days if im doing the entire frame of the pistol, so i know how you feel.
