I was curious, what are the benefits to runnning a plate design over a nozzel.

Currently on my setup I have a fogger. I want to swith to a plate but all I've been told is the nitrous "hits" harder. What other benefits are there?

Which plate do I need to run? Its a 95 Cobra.

Thanks.

plates tend to have a more "even" distribution across the cylinders. Also, nozzles "foggers" have been the root cause of intake explosions and nitrous backfires due to fuel puddling in the upper intake.

with a plate, such as the NOS GT-40 big shot, the fuel and nitrous only has one place to go... down... into the cylinders

FWIW, i see these plates very often on corral.net actually where i bought mine (sold it a long time ago)

If you're going above 150 shot on a regular basis, I'd probably do a plate. I've run 150 shot and 175 shot lots and lots and lots of times through a nozzle, and never had a problem.

i wouldn't consider 1 fogger nozzle into the intake path prior to the throttle body a "fogger" setup

a real fogger setup has bungs in each intake runner which i would prefer over a plate setup. but i doubt you are hitting the motor with anything substantial so in your case i would prefer a plate over 1 nozzle screwed into the inlet tube

Yea its just a single stage kit with a plain jane nozzel.

How much do plates usually run? And other than NOS, who makes them for my car?

Also, what would be needed to run a 2 stage? As in, I want to spray a 75 shot on the launch and 150 shot post launch.

if you have good solenoids get a progressive controller vs the 2nd stage.

AFAIK, the GT-40 plate is ONLY made by NOS.. but NX may have one too

I seen a bunch of plates on ebat but they went by dimension (size). The solenoids I'm usng are Edelbrock Powershot solenoids.

So what's a 2nd stage and a progressive controller? I'm a nitrous newbie lol.

second stage is essentially a complete second kit.

first one comes on then the second.

a progressive controller cycles the solenoids. that allows you to run large jets but dial it back. so with the 150 jets you can have it spray 50 off the line then bring in the rest gradually how you like it etc.

reason i suggested good solenoids is because it doesnt act like a dimmer switch... it actually open and closes the solenoids very fast. if you have cheap stuff you will be rebuilding them more frequently

Id assume a progressive controller is quite expensive... I may reconsider and just launch on motor and flip the switch post launch. I have a digital widow switch set to 3000rpm. Just not sure how I'm gonna get it to not spray while the clutch is engaged..

controllers range from 100-1000. a decent one is around 300-400

there are a lot of ways you can wire it to not spray while the clutch is moving but it is going to require electronics and sensors. easiest and cheapest would be to use a push button to activate the spray along with your window switch. will only spray while you are pushing the button

Even easier than that...

Use a naturally closed relay, linked off a wire from your clutch pedal switch. This way, when you step on the clutch, the relay breaks its circuit and will not allow the noids to open, but once you come off the pedal, it snaps shut and your noids fly open. Delivering an abundant dose of go fast goodness
