Ok, as I'm building this 351w based stroker, I keep wondering if I should go nitrous or not. What are benefits to nitrous, what brands are good, it's a carbed motor, what all does that change? I just need some basic help kinda pointing me in the right direction. Any help is good for me. I'm thinking 175-200 shot, is 10.5:1 to high of a CR for nitrous, do I need to stud my heads? I'm completely new when it comes to nitrous.

I'd stud ur heads and run cometic head gaskets. I'd also get wet shot plate kit, your compression is not to high for spray you will need a cooler shade of plugs and will need to back up the timing for nitrous.some people Are against it but I will say this 95% of the people shit talking spray have never ran it. I'm assuming you already have a upgraded fuel system because your doing 351w based stroker.even a 150 shot will grab you by the seat of your pants. You will want a good wide band as well with your new setup regardless of using nitrous or staying N/A it's just good insurance for your new combo. If you wanted you could do a direct port nitrous injection setup.

I would say the biggest draw to nitrous is the fact that the power is there when you want it to be(provided you filled your bottle=P). For brands any of the big ones I.E NOS, NX, ZEX are all long standing companies even companies like Dyno Tune make good nitrous stuff. Ive personally used NOS and ZEX as well as purge kits from Dyno Tune on a few of my own vehicles while having installed and had friends run for a while the NX stuff so they all definetely work. Now as for a carb setup the time we did run a bittle threw one we ran a 1 gallon cell as well as a Holley black pump for it if i remember correct that was the pump, specifically for the kit. I could be mistaken if so someone please chime in but the pressure needed to run a kit is to low on a standard carb pump. As for your compression question nitrous loves compression. As long as you take out the appropriate timing run the right plugs and add better fuel if needed when trying to run more timing in it. Head studs are a plus, hell i run them even if im N/A so running them with any forced induction is +1 browny points.

Cool, I will give those companies a call and see what they say. I'm shooting for a mid-10sec car, it will be a fox chassis, most likely a notch with a cage, full interior, no rear seat, no speakers or anything like that. Is that a stupid goal, or is it definitely do-able?

I'm starting with a bare block, so it's a slow process but it's getting done. Im almost done with the long block. I need rods and heads, but the heads will probably take a little while to get.
A build thread will probably start next week.
