On a stock 98 with only mods being exhaust, what is a SAFE shot of nitrous, that will blow doors off but wont destroy the motor???? i was thinking along the lines of a 125-150 shot......

If you want safe, i'd go with a 75 shot. Probably not what you want, but it'll make a hell of a difference. You should have non prob beating people with it and its safe! To me a 125 or 150 is just alot of nos for a stock motor. Although alot of people say they do it with no probs. Up to you though.

If you want safe buy a Volvo...

But yeah, 75 pills are safe. Plastic intakes like to shatter at the slightest provocation.

yea, thats why you get all the safty stuff like window switch and wot switch and fuel pressure switch... so you wont have the provactions.... also an auto don't heart. Also, it might not be a big deal but the wet shot sometimes "puddles" in the intake and goes pop... only if the velocity is down but i'm thinking the window starts at like 3200 rpm there shouldn't be any any reason there would be not enough velocity. But if you want not to worry with the plastic intake then get a nozzle system.

A dry system keeps it from puddling, that is the main reason they pop.

Wet kits PUDDLE from (as mention before) a LACK OF VELOCITY...i.e. you sprayed the shot at to low of an RPM or an exscessive load on the motor. Example...3,000rpms in 2nd gear is going to accelerate and generate the required velocity to ingest the incoming nitrous and fuel MUCH better than begining to spray in say...4th gear at the same rpm....more load on the motor, the RPMs don't accelerate as fast to generate that intake flow....fuel puddle, intakes explode. A dry system is much less than accurate as far as fueling for a nitrous kit.

100-125hp shot. Be smart. Don't be spraying trying to set land speed records.

Back to the 94-95 section,

Ry

so you should be fine when spraying from a start... as soon as the car hits 3k in first and threw the traps... should be fine... right?

I concur about the puddling from personal experience/failures

YES! First gear doesn't put the "load" on the motor that 4th gear at the same RPM does

If you're not above 3k and WOT, don't spray it.

Window switch, fuel pressure cut off switch. THis is why people who really run nitrous will tell you it cost's 1k for a good safe set-up.

thats what i would be getting. with out all the safety stuff it is like running a vortec at 14 psi with no tuning and with out the fuel stuff. lol.

dynotune has a really nice window switch thingy that combines some of the safty stuff. Not a bad set up. I think dal has it too.
