Hey guys this may sound retarded, but i was looking to setup my subs in my rear seat delete....Now they will be facing into the cabin, so this effectively makes my trunk a giant box....

Does this sound feasible or dumb idea....? Wondering what the sound quality might be like.

Oh and BTW the subs will be 2 10" alpine type R's

I'm not entirely sure but it seems like it would work. But it might be too much air...

I dunno.

The use of the entire trunk space will almost definately be too much space for 2 -10's . I would imagine that you will loose a lot of volume from too big a box(so to speak).

well i could mount a customer enclosure to the back of the rear seat delete....might add a bit of weight but make things sound a bit better....

i'd just try it f you're going to be building a box anyway. Make one side to mount in the rear seat hole and if it doesn't work, trim it down and build the rest of the box.

It'll be like a science expieriment! :crazy2:

our trunks aren't sealed. i didnt check out alpine, but unless its rated for freeair you will hurt your speakers. you could construct a box and use your rear seat delete as a flush mount to cover up the box. whatever you decide to do post up pics when your done

Find a sub that can be used in an infinite baffle (what you are describing) We built on for Alpine North America several years ago using their Infinite Baffle subs. We had 4 12's in the trunk of a grand prix. That thing slammed. I really miss Mobile Dynamics sometimes. Here is a link with more info,

that will not work. the trunk in your car is around 10 cubic feet. and those subs require .5-.8 cuft per sub in a sealed enclosure. and .8-1.3 in a ported enclosure. these figures are after sub displacment and port displacement. what kind of music do you listen to as that will dictate what box design you need to go with. if you listen to rock or country go sealed, rap, hip hop, dance then go ported.

Here is a pic of mine. Took my old dual box and mounted the delete to it. Then cut out the holes for the subs and mounted the subs to the delete. Then I added 2 little L brackets to the back to keep the box from moving around.

Too much space in the trunk. Spring for a fiberglass enclosure to go where the seat was. will look much cleaner than an unsealed carpeted box.
