Since my car's been sitting and not started for like 2 months, i thought itd be a good idea to start it and idle it for a while to clean out any carbon deposits that might be trying to destroy my engine.
It was no surprise when the battery was dead, so my dad gave me a jump, but what did surprise me was when i turned the key, there was no resistance whatsoever and the car wouldn't crank. the key didn't even click the electronics on, it just turned all the way to the "start" position, but did nothing.
Does anybody know whats up with this, or how to fix it?

if it helps, the car is completely gutted except for the dash and the steering wheel. i went under the steering column and connected all the wires, but it didnt do anything.

Well it's possible that your battery is SO dead, that even a jump won't start it... Try taking your battery out and putting it on a battery charger for a few hours, Or if you don't have one, take it down to a local parts store.. Most of them check batterys for free, and they charge the battery for 30min-an hour before testing... That's 2 birds with one stone.

Definitely sounds like an electrical issue. Double check your fuses and wiring and make sure that you have good clean connections.

Sounds like wiring to me to have you tried to start it like this before

It feels mechanical, like a mechanical component is missing or broken. but i have not checked fuses.
when i put the key in the ignition, it dings. can't say whether or not the dash lights up cuz its all masked off but i sure wouldn't think so
