In very simple terms they measure whats going out of the exhaust and inform the computer whats happening.
The computer looks at the voltage the o2 sensor is sending it to determine if the mixture is rich or lean, and adjusts the amount of fuel entering the engine accordingly. :)

94-95 cars only have two O2 sensors. The 4 sensor madness started later.

4 sensor madness is OBDII cars. At 100k they should be replaced. Hell, I think my 66k ones are bad...although they're probably the original sensors and the car is 13 years old lol.

At this point I would consider replacements. Go with the Bosch parts. They make the OEM's for Ford.

Get some MAF sensor cleaner (no carb cleaner) and clean the MAF and the intake temp sensors / connectors

while your at it. Let the computer re-calibrate itself and drive on!

Just replaced both on my 95 last week. Cost about $120 bucks. One less thing I have to worry about now.....older cars and thier maintenance :coolsmiley:

Anybody happen to have the part number(s) on the o2 sensors? I was looking on partsamerica.com (aka Advance Auto's Supplier) and found quite a few, but they all "fit my car." I would like to go with the Bosch's if they made the OEM parts, but even they have 2 or 3 different versions. Also, it would be nice (if possible) to get some o2 sensors with longer wires so when I upgrade to longtubes I won't need to buy the extension kit.
:TJ:...kinda.....sorry

PN 13133 for Bosch is almost 16 inches for the wires. Im not sure if that is long enough for Long tubes but those are the ones I got and the long tubes should be here tomorrow so I will be finding out soon lol.

BBK's for the 94-95. I wont be putting them on for a few weeks but Ill measure how much more downstream it is and how much slack I will have with those O2s.

I used the BBK extenders(you have to cut the plastic ears off with our cars) and stock O2 sensors and they reached just fine with my MACs. I can't imagine them not fitting their own headers and they're only $30 or so from Summit.

Well, my idea was that if I have to replace the o2 sensors, which I do, why not get ones with longer wires that will not require an extra extension for when I get my longtubes? :dunno:

chances are youll need an extension of some sort, and you dont want to get everything going and then all of a sudden be short by a half inch or some bs and have to wait to get some. Its $30 well spent and summit has an awesome return policy

I found the box that my new O2s came in. I gave you the wrong number.... I got 15718 which is 10 inches longer than stock. It comes to 18.5 inches. Sorry about that. I have heard of quite a few getting the stock length to work just moving the wires around so a set that are 10 inches longer I am pretty confident that they will be fine.
