hello ,I'm new to the site. I joined in search of some help i just bought a clean Rio red 95 GT , you could eat off this thing kinda clean was adult own , but drove everywhere lol 200k+ miles and BONE stock!!! Well to title it had to replace the tierod , sense doing so Ive got an odd popping sound
no one can figure out , even went as far as to have a shop replace the tierod to see if had done something wrong , well no i didn't and we cant make sense out of the new found popping noise , sounds like a bad ball joint , acts like a bad tranny mount and it will only make the sound if the car is on the ground , had it up on several racks and cant make it do. It will do it shifting gears ( car is an auto ) hard turns , up hill , taking off hard ....
what could this be? possably the rack? would i be better off just to rebuild the front end? also car has never been in an accident and tips advise anything???? Thanx

take a good look at the motor mounts shold be able to duplicate in a garage foot on brake and one on gas, load both directions forward and reverse if hear noize or engine lifts or moves more than 1 inch. mounts are bad
with milage on car this is a good posibility

i have this issue aswell, seems like its doing it a lot more now that its raining. but it comes and goes when turning in 1st and 2nd. it does it a lot when taking off from a complete stop. its not a metal on metal sound. and its coming from the front of the car.

im glad were all on the same page, but it sucks that we all have an undiscovered issue.

and the only noise i hear while turning the wheel when stopped is the power steering pump strain a wee bit.
on a side note my throw out bearing is also starting to squeal.

i hope this is nothing to indepth. its not supposed to stop raining for a few days here and i want it figured out.

oh last night i was rolling stop light to stop light down town in first and when at about 3k rpms if i let off then got back on the gas it would make the noise. it seems like once the car is loaded up then unloaded fast it makes the noise. i have never heard the sound in 3rd gear up. only heard it a few times in 2nd gear. and i hear it every time i drive when in first.

THAT sounds more like a motor or trans mount to me.
If you hear it out back I'd say u joint or pinion

I actually had my brother just accelerate in first from a dead stop and I could hear it from the sides toward the front of the car (I was standing outside next to it)

wow , vert you hit it dead on the head , exactly what mine is doin! 94-427 , I'm assuming you mean up on jacks ?
Ive had it on racks , jack stands ,& highlifts only time i can get it to do it is with it on the ground had 3 diffrent shops look at it , one actually told me to turn my radio off and that would fix it ( they couldn't get it to do it but they also wouldn't drive it ) only tried it on a rack , motor mounts don't move hardly at all , if it didn't do it while turning id swear it was a tyranny mount however it dose it when ever it feels like it.... totally random at that. I can tromp on it from a dead stop and it will only do it 50% of the time. Yet to see anything really point at a ball joint. I almost wish something would just break so i know what it is at this point. Oh and 98svt , no , it doesn't squeak when i turn the wheel at all , on or off the ground , killer cobra would you mind sending my some better pics of you wing? I'm tring to decide if i was to do a 281 wing , or just go clean =)

yea this is a tricky one. i almost want to say it could be something clutch related but i have no idea why it would do this or make the noise.
i know saying the clutch sounds stupid but really its just that mysterious.

My car is an auto tho... , what ever it is its werid as hell , and can often be felt in the floor bord
I had a kid in a Honda messing me on my home this morning , finally cought a light and went to blow him away
and on the launch i got a nasty clunk , bad enough to where the honda even stoped and looked around
just kinda took my foot out of it and coasted away....
this is gettin embarsing , really dont want to wait till next spring to drive my car , but if i dont get something goin soon
the SN95 is getting parked and i will just wait till this winter when i replace motor , tranny & k member with new goodies
and hope and pray i fix what ever it is somewhere in there

yeah i feel it in the floor too, thats probly why i said it could be clutch related. but if your auto and with the same problem its not my clutch.

im more on the paranoid side of it and think man this things gonna pop sometime and i'll go sliding on the belly of my car.

i never hear it over speed bumps or pot holes. only when taking of and shifting. maybe i'll check my trans mount and motor mounts.

I often hear mine on pot holes , so i think its a speed thing :dontknow:
eather way , im with you. Sooner or later somethings goin to give and my stang will take ME for the ride...
like i said , if nonthing eles it will be parked till its rebuilt and ready to roll!!! Sux tho bc it will be a year , but it will be a hot little car
when im done , thinkin possable a 351 swap aswell , defently doin tube K member and A arm swap , seat deleate eather a 306 or
a healthy 351 new tranny , shift kit nice staall (3300 or so ) and 4.10 gears mac pro chamber and some spintech mufflers
god help me if that dont fix my odd problem....
