odometer dead!

odometer and tripometer thing doesn't work.....

that shit happened to me on my 5.0 a few months back... ok, longer than that, cause it was BEFORE my 8 month deployment and i've been home since May, either way... my shit was a harness running from the passenger side of the engine bay, against the firewall, down over to top the tranny, and there is a plug that plugs into the tranny, that turns those things... if thats not it... don't know... and since you've got a 4.6 it may be COMEPLETELY differernt, but i'm at sea now, otherwise i'd go get pictures of it for you... however i'm currently floating off the coast of the Carlolina's... :dunno:

ive got the same problem, had it for 3 months! lol. from what ive read its gonna be the gear behind the
dash cluster that is plastic and prolly went out on you. somebody can most likely give a little more info
cause i havent fixed mine yet. lol

some guys change the little gear out that was mentioned above, most just change the cluster... I on the other hand still have 117738 on my car... havent put a mile on it in almost a year... haha... at least thats what the insurance company thinks...

yeah i want to know my mileage though.. idc if i rack up miles on the car because i dont plan on selling it so i want to know the mileage..


if you guys want, heres a 25$ gear you can buy and fix the problem without getting a new cluster.

haha true story, today went to the ford dealership to get the gear and check out my buddies new 03 cobra (sold his 460hp 06 GT and got the 03.. he works at the ford dealership)

well i went inside the parts place first and was like blah blah need that gear for the cluster.

dude was like oh no you have to go talk to the service guys out on the floor. so im like about to walk over there and this guy is like OHHHHH NOOOOOOO... in this really deep voice.

so he says you need to let us take your old cluster, then send it off and well order you a new one. he was like "wanna do that? the price is......"

i go haha no im not going to waste my 250 bucks on a new cluster. ill go find the $25 gear. i hate going to the ford place, they just want my money and i hate it. i know this time they were telling me straight up all they could do for me but ive ran into earlier incidents with them trying to sell me way more crap than i needed.. i hate service departments. on the other hand, my buddies new black 03 cobra is sweet.. he already blew the output shaft in his tranny into two pieces :hammer:

Now that kind of scares me. What if my GT has more miles on it then I thought it did?
