Hey let me introduce myself first I'm Nick I Have a 98 GT. I've had 3 foxes as well. The problem I'm having is I'm getting a bunch of oil in my cold air intake all the way in the fender and coating the whole tube. I changed the oil in the car a week ago or so and I'm guessing this is when it started because i never noticed it leaking from the fender like it was yesterday. I did a little research and everyone said pcv valve . How would the oil travel from there through the tb , out to the bottom of the cai. I also took out the pcv valve and the little ball in there seems to be moving fine. anyone have any idea where this oil could be coming from? The other tube that comes off the driver side valve cover seems to not have any vacume in it and there wasnt even remotely enough oil in it to think it could come from there. ANy ideas thanks a bunch- Nick

How many miles are on your motor, Its possible that its blow by from the motor being worn...

are you boosted or heavily modified??
In some application the pcv system will be stressed and circulate more than it is use to this is why they make catch cans and such for this system
i had to run one on my boosted 2010 would fill i little dixie cup container in about 2 months.
but if the car is fairly stock then i would double check the pcv system its like a one way check valve you can blow one way and not the other.
If the car runs like a top and no noticable power loss i wouldnt think excessive blow by ( heck id pray it wasnt this!)
i hope its something simple for you!

If oil was coming from your pcv valve you would see a lot of oil in that tube. Is there any oil in that too?

Oil is supposed to close the valve and open with just air. A fluid check valve. Stuck open it will vent oil.

+1

replace the pcv valve, if the problem persist then put an oil catch on there

Also...For 120,00 that seems abnormal.

Worst case scenario... you may need an engine re-build

You have a hose that goes from your valve cover to your cai. This is where your oil is coming from. It's not going backwards through your throttle body, that's impossible as you have vacuum on the backside of the throttle blade. As mentioned above, blow by from a worn engine will cause so much pressure in the engine that the pcv valve cannot create a vacuum in the crankcase. That allows oil to flow up and out of the vent tube I mentioned above that would normally have a vacuum in it. Just start taking the hoses off of your cai and see which one has oil in it, and that's your culprit.

Bingo....then put an oil catch on the thing and replace the pcv valve....honestly your motor may only last another 60 thousand miles...mine pooped out at 170,000

also, if you bought a tuner and/or had it tuned it may be a little rich causing excessive blow by on a worn engine. keeping it simpler, check out the PCV valve. if its stuck or jammed open then theres part of the problem. if the PCV is capped off then its pushing ventilation to the other side. the air has to escape. if its excessive blowby: next time when you change the oil take a whiff of the oil for a smell of fuel.
