Yeah, I figured it might not, but it's worth a shot anyways. Any other ways to tell if the rings are shot other than smoke/compression that you know of?
Compression and leak down test are two different tests. A compression test tell you what the cylinder pressure builds to and gives you a value that shouldn't vary more than 10% across all cylinders. A leak down test is when you add compressed air to the cylinder (both valves closed) to see if the rings or valves are sealing properly by holding the pressure.
.....uh, you should turn the fuel off. then you should check a chiltons, haynes or other wise find factory spec for this. typicalythat is somewhere between 140 and 170 but thats a pretty broad range, so again, find the specs.
