Old to New center console swap?

Hey I am brand new to this site and still figuring it out. But I think I'm in the right place here to ask this question. I just picked up a 95 Mustang GT, 5.0L 5speed not long ago. I was curious if the 99-04 center console would fit in mine and replace it? I like the newer center console better with the cup holder instead of ash tray, etc. Also, I really want to know if the radio bezel fits too. I like the whole double din sized radio compared to the two single din radios mine has. Mine came with the Mach 460 with CD Player, incase that matters. And if I did the swap, I would also be installing an aftermarket double din receiver and that I can deal with.

So just a simple question, any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

Then newer console will fit. I think the colors are a bit different on some of em, but that can be easily fixed with interior paint/dye. Not sure about the radio bezel, though I don't see why it wouldn't.

The bezel will fit but you have to modify the dash internals to make the double din unit fit. Also like said the console bolts right in, but you need to paint it to match and the wiring needs to be modified.

also get the shifter surround if you do the double din as the bottom will not like up all that well with the new top.

You'll have to fabricate some brackets to hold the double din setup on the inside. I made some L shaped brackets out of aluminum stock and bolted the front of the stereo cage/trim to some tabs on the dash itself and a couple more brackets on the back of the stereo to keep the weight up. Unless you paint the double din dash piece it's not going to match the rest of the dash since its a lighter charcoal color.

Thanks for the replies. Ivan I see you also took your climate controls out and put a few gauges in haha, nice. Well maybe I'll get lucky and rummage through a parts car or something at a junkyard. My interior is black/tan. Is the tan from 99-04 a different kind of tan? I wouldn't mind just an all black center console too. I can paint the radio bezel, no big deal. I could figure out the wiring part too. Maybe this will become a fun little summer project. Thanks.

My interior was tan as well but I absolutely hated it. Found a guy on Craigslist parting out a convertible V6 with a complete black interior. He let me have everything minus the steering column for $200 if I pulled everything off myself. 4 hours later I had it all sitting in my backyard, everything minus the dash was really easy to swap.

if you want the new style console you'll need an 01-04, if you just want the cup holders to replace the ashtray then the 99/00 will do the trick.

Now those are some B.A gauges by far.

the only other thing to mention is that the transmission tunnel isn't shaped the same so the back won't fit flush to the floor like it does now. you'll be able to stick your hand under the console.

I've been thinking about changing the console as well. I was thinking of finding one from a 98. Interior color would match, and shouldn't have to fab anything.
