ok guys I have a full pi swap ready heads cams and intake i actually have a whole pi motor my ? is i am debating on if i should do the pi swap now or wait until i get my hi tech cams!



it will be a few months before i can come up with the money for the cams. i am doing all the work myself. i would like to go ahead and swap it with the pi cams now then when i get my hi techs just swap those in just wanting to get some one elses opionion!!!!

If you do the PI swap with those cams....

GET YOUR VALVES MACHINED! I used a dye grinder on me, and it makes me so nervous that I may have PTV..even though Im sure its not. It is worth however much to clear for the .100 of clearance from the pistons so you dont destroy your motor.

Id wait to do the cams. Make it a winter project.

I would not wait for the cams as many are prone to issues. I had ptv and went with the stock pi ones and am having a blst with my car. pi swap intake manifold and some giggle gas makes 350 to the wheels. I would save your cam money for the new trick flow heads and cams. You can put a monster cam off in those.

screw that go buy some comp's like i did and youll own... i love my cams love my motor short of it burning oil... just do it buy the comps and be cool like a rock star ooh yea

hightech 2s will get you there. their the best 2v no spring required cam you can buy for the 2v

yeep, no reason not to, you break a spring later and you have to do the job all over again.... SUCKS

yea i noticed that a while ago when i was looking at the brag ups on them, its really stupid, if one company says you need them and othes say you dont for theirs then ust do it it, why risk it also, no matter what everytime i change cams i change hydraulic lash adjusters just because i dont wanna go back in and have to do it later if one sticks or somethign

I agree just like putting on new timing chains and such, as long as your in there might as well do some pervenitive maintenance

eh chains may be a tad over kill depending on 2v or 4v with the price of the chains .... they can get expensive with the tensioners ect

all my pi stuff has 30k on it you guys think i'll be ok with using all the chains tensioners ect. i'll prolly get springs anyway rather pay a couple hundred just to be safe

yeah you should be if you are taking them from the PI motor.

I know new chains and junk are expensive, but I have read how people do the swaps and use their higher mileage chains and tensioners and have developed a noise from the front of their motor. Unfortunately they come to find out that something fails and then they have to go back and the front cover off, which can be kind of a hassle with having to remove all the accessories.

but with only 30K you should be good.

yea 30k dont worry bout lash adjusters or followers or timing chains just look at them make sure none are collasped (adjsuters) and you should be good

Do it right and do it once, good luck with your install. The eager side of me says go ahead and do it now but after going through the trouble of doing it the first time i think it would be hard to want to do it all over again.

i just stuff terminator heads that were on a 700hp turbo car today with 30k all the hydraulic lash adjsuters were fine, bleed down a while a go and were fine, put them in today and were fine same with all the followers... its once you get aorund 70k that i would think about replacing them if i saw one that was suspect
