i tried sticking one in my car and the power wire didnt reach, so i said the hell with it because i am a lazy mechanic. maybe if you would extend the wires it could work? but i am not certain cause there are about 3 different kinds of red top optimas

Well if you do a battery relocation you can fit the large mamma jamma. But if you dont your current location will require a small modification. Ill try and find out which one I had when I had my batt under the hood.

Just takes a while between the running of wires and the misc stuff. The problem is that you have to do a On/Off switch to run at tracks. So far Ive been lucky and no one has said anything about mine not having one.

What are you running? In my car with my subwoofer and my sound stuff I figured that I would run deep cycle and all. However I have noticed something kinda crappy about the Yellow Top. Since It has less cranking amps, I find that my remote start now requires two "starts" and the car sometimes doesn't want to start up as quickly. I just replaced my starter and I know its not that. The red top never had a problem up until the day it just died.

deep cycle batterys are made to drain down, not have a full charge like the red tops. i have a yellow in my trunk, and i dont drive 500 miles a year, can go months inbetween cranking up, and its close to 5 years old.

HUH I got a red top thats brand new never installed and I was gana put it in. I had it give to me for free. Free is always the best. But I had a optima in my eclipse and that thing sucked. It seemed liek if it drained down 2 or 3 times the red top was pooped!

Have a red top. My power wire wouldn't fit over the top so I mounted it on it's side. Been like that for 1.5years. Not one problem ever.
