Hey my car started to over heat so I bought a thermostat to replace it. But some one was saying that it could also be the relays. So how do i check them? also anyother input would be sweet thanks
A quick self test of the relays would be to pull codes. One of the first things the computer will do is run a self test then your cooling fan will turn on low then hi for about 4 seconds each.
Your problem could also be the motor itself. To test that you'll need 2 jumper wires that will reach to your battery. Remove the motor connector and connect jumper to pos and neg side of battery with the other ends going to the motor. black wire is ground and is connected to neg., the other 2 are for the hi and low.
Do not test hi and low at the same time.
i just went thru the same thing. do what DESERTCOX05 said above, then do a goole search on how to test the ccrm module. i found out by testing the way i found on another site that it was bad. sorry dont remember the other site and my dang computer qiut on me. its easy to replace but make sure you test your fan motor first
I just went through the same thing, too. The module went bad and the fan would never come on. I got the module replaced, but the fan got really hot right away and cooked the wiring.
I had to get a new circuit breaker that goes between the pigtail and the fan motor. (This was part of a TSB/recall back in the late '90s.) The circuit breaker is YH-1608 F5DZ-14526-AB.
If the car doesn?t start when the ignition switch is turned on, and if the check engine light doesn?t switch on and off, it indicates that the ignition switch, the main relay, the fuse or the ECU are faulty.
