Hey guys I'm here in Denton getting ready for the NASCAR race. On my way up 45 I saw a string of newer mustangs including 2012 boss, 2012-11looked to be saleen or roush, couple terms and finally a 94-5 laser red pace car. How rare is the pace car I saw. I wish I couldve taken pictures but I was driving :(.

the 94 pace car is fairly rare. I remember seeing one on ebay about 4 or 5 years ago and apparently they were shipped to the dealers with the decals in the trunk and the dealer installed them. Which means there may be no way to ID a true pace car other than other options on the car.

1994 saw a major redesign for the Ford Mustang, as well as Mustang's return to Indianapolis. The all-new 1994 Mustang Cobra convertible became the third Mustang to pace the Indy 500.

The 94 Mustang was powered by a modified version of Ford's 5.0L V-8 engine that produced 240 horsepower. 1963 Indy winner Parnelli Jones was chosen to drive the pace car.

1000 replicas of the red-and-tan convertible were produced, along with a replica of the Official Truck of the Indy 500, the Ford F-150 Lightning.

I have NEVER seen a 94 pace truck.

I'm quick like cat

found it odd there isn't a lot of info out there on them. I was hoping to confirm about the decals being dealer installed.

One of my old high school teachers had a red/tan replica. Sadly from what I remember he didn't take very good care of it, it was always dirty and the paint was faded pretty bad.

Someone once said all 94 Cobra verts were pace cars...

That's what I was thinking. I don't think I've ever seen a 94 Cobra vert that wasn't. It was optional about putting the decals on but from what I've heard, they all came in the trunk and it was up to the dealer/ owner to decide.
