Haven't been on much lately--wifey and I moved out of the old man's a week or so ago so we have been busy with the move and blowing wads of money on dumb crap for the new place (since we came from Japan we had to buy EVERYTHING brand new, every piece of furniture, every tiny little thing--dishes, towels, shower rod, etc. etc.) including a sweet ass 46" Sharp Aquos Quattron...and work has been kicking my ass but that's ok.

But somewhere in there I also paid off the Stang a couple days ago, so it's mine free and clear...paid it off in just 11 months, w00t w00t...up next--let savings recover a bit and buy the wife a car.

Well, I got Cobra headlights and new OEM parking lenses, all that I want to do otherwise is an X/Flows, lower it, and tint it...but my Camaro needs to come out of long term storage in a few months and I'm probably looking at $3k in stuff to get that thing back on the road, and then there's the wife's car, then who knows, probably a Mustang repair in there somewhere I'm sure after a winter's worth of potholes (actually next Saturday I'm getting the ebrake looked at--tired of pulling it way too high up, expecting a new cable to be needed, and also having them look at the rear view mirror since it popped off on me), yadda yadda...probably be a classic case of by the time I can finally throw some coin at it I'll be ready to sell it, so we will see. Ideally you'd mod a car the way you like it right away for maximum enjoyment rather than X years after owning it but life is life.

As for the wife we are thinking an '08-'09 C class or ~2010 mini Cooper but we will see how the financial situation looks--and insurance for her, being she has no driving history here in America.

I gotta say though, I've put 7k miles on the Stang since September and it's been flawless for me. Just gotta get the ebrake/mirror taken care of and I'll be back to the "needs nothing" stage, where I like to keep it.

A few pics of the place; it's only 457 sq. ft. but it does the job ok...as long as you are minimalists you have plenty of space (sans the bathroom but oh well):

when i would hit 2nd gear in my 01 the rear view mirror would end up in the back seat.

Yeah the metal part is still stuck to the windshield, but the plastic part pops off easily, I think I just need to slide it back on the metal part and snap it back into place but I've pushed pretty hard without getting it all the way back on but I don't want to crack the windshield so I'm hoping the dealer just pops it back on and lets it slide on the bill.

looks really nice!

we have the same computer btw

thanks, i love my MBP...speaking of that the wife is in dire need of a macbook air, she's on some crummy ass netbook from like 2 years ago...add that to the no-stang-money list

also those LED strips in the kitchen change colors, i can have porno red lol

we can paint, and were planning on doing light gray throughout with a couple muted red accent walls but we will see...the walls look way green in the pics but they aren't that bad, but yeah they have a green tint (yea wtf) so we might paint....but i really dont fucking feel like it......especially because if we do we have to paint it back to white on the way out the door

dang man that place looks sweet. I figured it would be ridiculously spotless like your car ;p

You don't need a huge house to have a nice house, I think its great man.

yeah that bathroom is really tight. you can practically drop a deuce and take a shower at the same time. i like the rest of the place, small doesn't matter if you have it organized. don't bother to paint, its just not worth the effort or the cost.

You know what? Our cars are really fucking old.

This morning I spent about 2 hours giving the interior it's first good cleaning since early December on accounta it being winter and everything. The interior is nice and fresh and smelling clean again, which I like, so it is in top condition at the moment.

Today the wife and I went browsing for cars at dealers just so she could get a wide range of ideas of what she does/doesn't like. We looked at the usual suspects for her, those being Coopers and C-classes, but we also looked at a few used A4s, A3s, new Jettas, new Beetles, a few different Nissans, couple used IS250s, etc. etc...a pretty wide range of cars.

Peering inside, I was actually really impressed with every car we looked at. I hate to admit it, but if you've seen the NEW beetles--the ones that have the oldskool wheels on them now, I think this is new for 2012--I actually thought they were pretty cool cars, and I hate to admit it but the inside was pretty freaking sweet, with a body colored dashboard. Anyway, the new Jetta had a really nice interior, as did all these other cars, even the cheapy little Nissans we looked at.

Then the wife and I peered into my Mustang for kicks, and even with it's minty fresh, just cleaned interior, it looked dated as all hell and cheap as balls.

That's not to say I don't like my interior--I do, quite a lot. To me it seems modern and sleek, and I still find it attractive. But man, when you have something to compare it to, it becomes apparent just how outdated our interiors are in terms of styling, quality, and materials. Just looking at the shift knobs as an example, seems like chrome/brushed aluminum is back in style inside cars, whereas we have the chintzy looking old all black shift knobs. Also our stereos are painfully obvious that they just pop into place in the dash board, and don't look integrated.

I dunno, just an observation more than a complaint. I realize our interiors date back to maybe 1992-1993 in terms of when they were designed, and even today they still hold their own, but man when up next to even a new economy car you can really see how dated our interiors really are.

...almost made me want a new car...........

Congrats on the new place. Owning your car out right is awesome, I only by cars that I can afford to pay cash for.
