I have some used hooker super comp shorty headers. I wanted to paint them with some ceramic Engine Block spray paint that has a max temperature of 500 degrees. Should I use this or no.

No that's nowhere near hot enough. The only header paint I've had luck with is the VHT Flameproof 1300-2000 degree paint. Sandblast the headers if you can and make sure they're really clean, then only use just enough paint to cover the headers and you should be alright.

They do make high temp powder coat, I have it on the pipe I built for my quad. I have never had luck with anything lasting on a quad pipe except for high temp powder coat.

eastwood makes some great high temp paint in a few colors. I painted these headers years ago and they still look great.

I've tried everything on motorcycles and cars over the years and only had any real joy with ceramic coating.

I painted mine a couple weeks ago with VHT. I don't have an oven big enough to cure the paint (longtubes) so I can't say how they will hold up. They turned out real nice IMHO. I used a paint stipper first with a wire brush, then a rust remover with the same wire bursh, degreased them, sanded with 1200 grit & 600 grit, sprayed VHT High Heat Primer, about 3 coates, then painted with VHT High Heat Paint also 3 coates. I'll go thru the curing process once they are on the the car that is reccommended on the back of the can. It took about 5 hours. I'll post some pics later today.

I've high-temp painted or powdercoated a couple sets of headers and turbo manifolds. They come out nice, but the prep needs to be good. I had access to a Wheelabrator shot blasting machine to get them perfectly clean, which helps ensure your finish is good and durable.

is that the stock EGR tube bent to fit the MAC headers or is that a totally different pipe?

I'm really not sure. I bought them used for 100 with h-pipe, magnaflow mufflers. My Cobra has the ERG deleted already so I'm just going to remove the tube and plug it.

hmmm. I always thought it was weird that MAC put the EGR connector in a different spot than stock, don't understand the point of that but it's w/e, mine's deleted too.

b/c it's a longtube header and doesn't route the same way as a stock manifold. On mine the EGR tube was lined up really well, but a b!tch to tighten so I ended up just capping it off.
