Parking brake help

Alright so I recently had to replace my primary brake cable in my 96 GT and while replacing it I took the whole handle off and everything and once I got it back on it didnt seem to work very good. For it to really even engage it literally has to be all the way up. I would appreciate it if any of you guys have had this problem and solved it.

You can adjust the handle. Can't really remember how I did it but remember it being pretty easy. It has to do with whatever the handle release locks in to.
