PCV Issue

Okay, here's the deal... When I did my cam swap, the PCV valve was a little worked, but it went back in the hole... well it worked itself out and the car seems to run okay, but I know it has to be creating issues. The PCV is just hanging and there's nothing covering the hole in the intake... When I plug the PCV in, I get a surging idle and the car won't run right. Any ideas as to what I need to do?

depending on how long it was just hanging you could now have build up in the filter. Replace the pcv valve and check the screen.

Agreed, just buy a new valve, the bung it goes in, and a new screen for the intake, Rockauto do the lot.

Yea... that would be nice if I hadn't already done that. I replaced the PCV valve, put everything back together and the car still won't idle. So the new one has just been hanging too, because that's the only way the car runs.

if the car runs better with the pvc valve sucking in all that extra air that is not metered through the mass air meter maybe its running to rich with it installed in the block. if the computor set it self up to cope with the added air try unhooking the battery for a moment or two to reset it and then put the pvc valve back in the block and try it again. it might just fix the idle problem.

do they ever leak oil? or if their bad spit oil out?

The PCV needs to be replaced if it starts leaking...

I have never had good luck with Autozone/Advance PCV's. They were always a POS.

I always replace them with one from the Ford Dealer...
