I'm just wondering if my 96-98 hood will close with a 1/2" phenolic spacer with a performer intake manifold

It will not close and you'll have to ditch the stock strut tower brace...According to American Muscle

my brother has a performer II on his 95. without a spacer it rubbed, with a 3/8 spacer, the hood would not close. a 96-98 cobra hood will clear though. as far as I know, the 94-98 GT hoods are all the same.

I've never seen the performer in person. but it looks equally high at it's highest point, admittedly the central portion appears to be a inch or two lower. my brothers rubbed right on the lettering on the rpm2 if that helps. again, it rubbed before the spacer, wouldn't even shut after. I'd expect some rubbing at the risk of being pleasantly surprised if there isn't any.

hope this helps.

you may be able to notch the bracing on the bottom of the hood if it comes to that. we didn't try, I just gave him a cobra hood I had laying around.

I will try to measure the intake tomorrow, so you can get an idea of how different the heights of the two intakes truly are. because right now this is all speculation.

I have a 1/2" on my 94 and the stock hood. The hood liner if you still have it on there might rub the intake, I just took it off an its been fine.

I have a typhoon intake, stock motor mounts and it rubs the liner, but I think it would fit with a1/2 in spacer
