These were described as "4.6/5.4 PI Complete Heads." No other info was given. I know these are very dirty, but do you guys see anything mechanically wrong with them from the pictures? Anything I should look out for? Are they worth/would you buy them for $150? They don't have to be pretty for me, I just want some PI's that work.

aside from being really dirty, they look fine to me. the rust would have to come off tho, prob take them to a machine shop to get them cleaned. no pics of under the valve cover?

I got a set for 200 off of a pi equiped truck. One thing i'll say to look out for is the cam journals... mine had a little damage that was boarderline but my engine builder said he has seen worse so we took some really fine sand paper to it and smoothed the ridges out since they weren't that bad.

Also, look for bent valves. Guess your going to have to get them to check them... pour water in the camper and if you see them leak out then you know they either have bent valves or need a valve job really bad.

Cracks don't usually show up untill the thing is hot so you might want to have them flexed or whatever they call it now aday.

How many miles? If high then you might want to have a jalve job and guides done. Also is the deck surface good?

Spark plug thread stripped?

probably more and i don't mean to take the idea away, just a lot going into it ya know.

So are they windsor or romeo?

I agree i think they are windsors.

They are windsor, which means my engine has to be compatible with the 13 bolt (seems like I heard that)?

Here's a few questions I asked the guy w/ his answers in red:
- Are there any mechanical defects? (cam journals, bent valves, cracks, spark plug threads stripped)? no problems inspected them when i got them they are fine just need to be cleaned up
-Are these heads windsor or romeo? i belive it's a windsor heads they have a 13 bolt vavle cover on them
-What make/model did these heads come off of? came off a '00
-What mileage do they have? mileage unknown

These are definite PI's right? I know you can tell by the ports but I can't remember the shape they're supposed to be.

No one seems to see problems with them, so if everything is compatible I'll be picking them up this weekend.

always a good thing. Fell into that one time with some used 5.0 heads a couple years back.

Well, if that's carbon in the exhaust port's then go for it, but if it's oil, then there's a valve problem.

those heads will not have any rust on them as they are aluminium. you can visually inspect them but the only way to know would be to take them to a machine shop to be sure. have them basically do a full check on the heads, have them hot tanked, magnafluxed, check all guides, bearing surfaces, and seats. then go from there. i dont know much about the 4.6s but those heads seem to be a good improvement over the stock NPI heads and for 100 bucks you cant go wrong. if you had some extra money i would look into maybe a 3 angle valve job, some bowl work and such. because the heads are already off right.
