Well i got my PI intake and to my surprise its a DOrman intake. not a ford unit. So i went ahead and rtv'ed the coolant ports and the orings on all the intake ports (just to be safe), put everything back together and started it up...went for a test drive and i noticed 2 things.. The Cel was on and what sounds like a bad vaccum leak.

P0141
P0146

Anyone else get these after PI intake swap...possible causes?

Secondly i couldnt find a vaccum leak by spraying carb cleaner all around and over the intake...I read someone else had a Dorman intake and said it was really noisy..?? Anyone else have any kind of problems with these intakes, and how can i find the vaccum leak if there is one?

oh, yeah, ive never worked with a dorman intake but ive heard that they are troublesome to work with. one of the issues that the dorman intakes have (so ive heard) is that the gaskets are kinda crappy because they are built in gaskets. i would say take it off and recheck all the contact spots where it meets the heads. i would suggest you get a ford unit, but i also know i would hate to buy another intake if i already bought one

so u just drive it the way it is? no problems?

Do you think its just the way the intake sounds or you have a leak?

Did you take your maf off the intake piping while doing this swap? When I didn my pi head/intake swap before the blower, I had a whistling noise aswell, but it didnt really affect the power or anyrhing tho, turns out I had to make a new gasget for the maf and that fix the whistle. Idk if thats exactly your problem because idk about the cel, but I used a dorman intake and it fit fine. Hope this helps.
