I'm with you ryclef - I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I really don't give a shit about any car that appears at the dragstrip coming off a trailer. To me, drag racing is all about your car driving there, maybe a small trailer for some wheels or something to swap out, running, and going home. Building a reliable, street-legal (not to be confused with streetable), fast car is a lost art these days.

I was thinking the same as ryclef too. I have more respect for the guys who run 12's with their daily drivers than the ones with the 10 second purpose built drag cars. For me, the Friday night street legal races are far more entertaining than the big buck Sunday afternoon main events.

I used to feel exactly the same way . . . and I thought that anyone who trailered their car to the track was a wimp. And, when my car was still a DAILY DRIVER, it ran 11.10 and yanked the tires.

I have tons of respect for 12 second cars (even though most of them WERE trailered). They just aren't as exciting to watch.

Here's a video from when my car was still a daily driver . . . spanking a guy in a trailered in race car:

Who cares.... those guys runnig 12.50's are giving the car all it's got. Isnt that the idea of the "all out" series??

I'm tired of them always picking a 10 second class, they have done everything from 10.0-10.9 already, it's about time they show the guys like most of us (who dont have a full on drag car, not loaded $$$ wise, and dont have sponsors, just a street car) a chance at the $10K

Sorry that you did not get picked, but did you get upset in school when you were not picked as well?? :dunno:

I'll say it again . . MY CAR DIDN'T RUN CONSISTENT ENOUGH TO GET PICKED!!

Read the post before you make snide remarks.

Sorry Trubble, re-reading I realize how my post looked like I was directly speaking of you, which it was not, more of the generalized "trailered purpose built car class." I have a lot of respect for the difficulty it takes to build a car that fast, and the money and time invested, but just like you, one class is my cup of tea and the other is not.

I hear ya. Daily driven race cars used to be my cup of tea, too. But, as I got more serious about racing -- and needed the car to be more consistent in order to win -- I had to make a decision and push it into "full race" mode. It was a bottom 11 second car as a street car, and now it has run 9.81 as a race car. I expect to see 9.60s on motor and middle 8s on spray.

And . . I can tell you from doing both, it takes a lot more work to build a consistent race car than it does to build a fast street car. It just happens that mine evolved from one to the other. :boink:

I was working on my motor and ancillary stuff to it. I actually wanted to go out because my friend Dan was there with his Grand National - although I don't know if he was there the whole weekend or just Friday/Saturday. Were their any cool cars out?

Paul.

It was pretty light on Sunday. A few of the Buick guys were still goin at it. And, that yellow twin turbo Viper was there and made an 8.40 something pass.

The track was hooking like mad.
